This might be my favorite gelato place I tried in Bologna and I tried quite a few. This was a bit more hidden away from the main squares, but still not a far walk and is just across the street from the Galleria Cavour. I liked it so much that I actually went twice during my two-day trip just to try more flavors. The place gets quite busy, but service is very quick as they're able to get people served quickly. There's even a nice park across the street for people to enjoy their gelato. I ended up getting the Cavour (ricotta cheese, Amalfi lemons and shortcrust pastry) and the 50 Special (coffee mascarpone with terina pie) during my first visit and the watermelon and Tortino brenso (chocolate cake ice cream) on the second visit. Their specialty flavors are definitely the way to go, the combinations just work really well together. The tortino brenso was the biggest surprise for me as I was expecting it to be sweet, but it was actually a very dark chocolate (which I love!) and it might be my new go-to flavor. Great experience all in all, and will visit again if I'm ever...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the best gelatos Iāve tried in all of Italy. You must try cremino pistacchio and cavour. I went a little crazy here and tried so many flavors. All of them were delicious, but these two flavors stood out the most to me.
Cremino pistacchio is a double pistachio attack consisting of pistachio gelato and pistachio pesto. Itās pistachio heaven. The pistachio pesto is ridiculously good. you can actually buy it as an add-on for other flavors as well, which I highly recommend. Iād buy a bucket of it and ship it back home if possible. A similar flavor is cremino nocciola (hazelnut), and itās the same story. Itās hazelnut heaven.
But the Cavour gelato is very special and worth mentioning, in my opinion. It is creamy ricotta gelato with beautiful sweet Amalfi lemons and topped with some really delicious crumbles of some biscuits or pastry they call āpasta frollaā. Never tried anything like it before. itās one of the best unique flavors I tried in my life. Would love to try the granita next time.
Look, if you love gelato, then you must come here. Itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreok so I gave it 5 stars due to no complaints but you'd have to be a gelato genius to declare this as THE BEST. We've been enjoying 2 gelatos a day for most of the 2 weeks in Italy and honestly I have no idea which was the best.
But this place was certainly great. It was a very long wait and the wait was worth it only because walking to the alternative "the best gelato ever" location would have resulted in a long line up after a long walk so it was worth it just because there was no point in doing anything else.
here is what you'll love about this place: The long list of flavour choices The interesting flavour combinations The service The generous servings albeit with great variance from one customer to another
Here is what you won't love; the long line up the pressure and expectation to NOT ask for test tasting because of the long line up
i will subjectively add - some of the places we went to had weird flavour combinations but the taste was still divine..... the one weird flavour combo that i tried still...
