Wanted to have a coffee and dessert and asked nicely to use the restroom, and the owners (“Johny” and a hard-looking woman) were so nasty and told me they were a restaurant and they only served coffee to go (in which case I was not a customer and could not use the bagno) and they were all out of dessert, so I could NOT use their bathroom. Meanwhile a couple was there just having coffee! In 2 weeks in Matera I have only encountered lovely charming establishments with a very tourist-centric, kind approach.
