My husband and I had the immense pleasure of dining in this fine establishment. We were staying in Italy for about a month and without question, this was THE BEST restaurant that we dined in. We arrived to a beautiful cave restaurant which is beautifully appointed. The wait staff are kind, patient and knowledgeable about the menu. We selected both a red wine and a white wine and both are curated from their private vineyard and beyond our wildest dreams in quality. The bread, which is historically exclusive to Matera is beyond your wildest dreams. It is served with their olive oil produced exclusively for them. My husband started with the pasta prepared with local sausage, my husband described the pasta course as one of the top three pasta courses that he has ever had in his lifetime. I had the creamy pasta, the server brought over a beautifully designed box and opened the box to present a lovely truffle. She proceeded to shave fresh truffle over my pasta and I have NEVER enjoyed such a meal in my lifetime. My husband had the veal cheek with saffron mashed potatoes. The veal cheek was so delicate and delicious and the potatoes were the creamiest he has ever had. For dessert, I had the deconstructed cannoli which was light as air and creamy. My husband had tiramisu served in an Italian espresso pot and my husband said that it was in the top 3 tiramisus that he has ever had. If you are a "Foodie" you MUST visit this restaurant. It is a FIVE STAR restaurant without the FIVE STAR prices. Truly an extraordinary dining experience and beautiful atmosphere. A true Matera gem. Perfect for a beautiful evening out or a special event, just all...

Didn’t even try the food, I believe it’s good no doubt. But the atmosphere from the waiters, to be specific the tall skinny dude with glasses. That dude got mad because I lifted my hand when I called him, and asked him to come so I can ask him face to face something about the menu. He didn’t came even tho he looked at me, and crossed our table couple of times. No response, then the other waiter came a girl and was nice. But me and my girl didn’t like the emptiness inside and weird energy we got so we got up and left. Didn’t order anything, just looked at the menu for 10/15min inside. Then when we got up to leave. That dude, called up on me while we were leaving and said stuff like, where are you going, you looked at the menu outside, why did you even sit. Then when I started explaining myself with literally one sentence. He interrupted me and said why do you lift your hand when you call me. Bro like mind your business … then he started to be even louder and told me people are waiting outside to sit inside. Just to clarify the room we were inside had 4 more tables with nobody sitting, also other rooms with free tables. Outside the restaurant maybe 8/12 people were waiting, but they were waiting to sit outside… Id very much like that dude to mind his own business and act like a waiter who needs to sell the italian story and be polite. I hope the...

Reserved a table for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday after reading the excellent reviews. This restaurant turned out to be one of the best places we’ve been to. Unfortunately the tasting menu was not available when we went there, but everything we ordered was delicious, fresh and authentic. You can easily find options even for the picky eaters and some of the dishes are prepared next to you. We were offered bread and olive oil on the house and every dish or drink came with a story. The staff were professional but friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The restaurant is located in a cave, which enhanced our experience and serves its own wines. On top of the extraordinary service, everything is fairly priced and they don’t try to upsell you on anything. After dinner we spend some time in their cigar room which was also amazing.

Food was pretty decent. We had the taster menu and the choices were really good however, as soon as we finished the course another one came straight out and kind of ruined things as we didn't stop eating for nearly an hour and a bit - I did also highlight that I had an allergy but the first course came out with a nut straight on top. We also had the wine pairing and with everything coming out back to back, we had a mountain of wines to finish. Kind of ruined things for us. Also, we noticed how the management were talking to one of the junior staff members and it wasn't very nice to hear. Overall, food and the place was nice, but needs a bit of improvement.

I would highly recommend this place when you're visiting Matera. It's a fantastic spot with a beautiful ambiance, delicious meals, great wine, and a very nice and professional waiter. For starters, we had burrata caprese and beef tartare with tuna sauce. For the main course, we enjoyed orecchiette in sausage ragu and tagliolini cacio e pepe. We paired our meal with a bottle of red wine, and for dessert, we had basil gelato and tiramisu. Everything was delicious and beautifully served. Great place, great hospitality, and great food!
