Ristorante Pizzeria Bella Blu — Restaurant in Taormina

Firstly the location is potentially excellent. Half way up the hill between the bus station and the town, with great views across to the east.

Food was OK - not the best, but definitely decent quality. Other reviewers feel it's overpriced - perhaps it is, just slightly.

Wine - you either buy a €5 glass of vino della casa or shell out over €20 for a bottle of something that doesn't really justify these mark-ups. It seems a bit mean not to offer house wine by the carafe. Most other Taormina restaurants do.

We had 2 courses but were - bizarrely - served by four different members of the staff. And then paid the bill to a fifth person on the till.

Strangest thing ... we both felt the place had no atmosphere at all, despite its stunning romantic location. It was dull, dead, inert. And less than 10% full at peak time on a Friday evening in September ... when the town was buzzing and other retaurants overflowing. Maybe other people also prefer to dine somewhere with a...

We ate here for our last night in Taormina and it was really fitting with the beautiful panoramic views. The restaurant has a separate gluten free menu and they are very adamant from the beginning that all gluten free food comes out on a brown plate. The restaurant is also certified by the Italian association for its practices in gluten free cooking so I felt very safe eating here. I ordered the gluten free pasta with mussels and it was very tasty. My non gluten free friends had regular pasta and both said it was very good. The service was great, everyone was very friendly and very attentive. We also had the opportunity to meet and chat with the owner who was extremely nice. Highly recommend this place! Una stella solo per il panorama! Siamo andati a cena in questo luogo, una delusione unica! Noi siamo viaggiatori "seriali" e di ristoranti ce ne intendiamo e anche molto! Oltre al cibo di bassissima qualità la cosa che ci ha sorpreso in prima istanza è che appena siamo entrati ci hanno fatto accomodare ad un tavolo con tovaglia di carta dove avevano mangiato altre persone prima di noi, poi abbiamo chiesto le nostre ordinazioni e caos totale camerieri con divise non pulitissima, cibo non fresco e presentato malissimo e qualitativamente scadente. L' ambiente molto sporco e tenuto male! Bagni fatiscenti e sporchi! Andiamo in cassa paghiamo il tutto con carta di credito, dopo aver emesso lo scontrino mentre stavamo andando via il ragazzo della cassa ci chiede un euro a suo dire per la tassa di soggiorno comunale! Noi gli abbiamo fatto presente che è la prima volta che ci viene chiesta al ristorante, in nessun ristorante ci è mai stata chiesta neppure in altri di Taormina stessa dove abbiamo mangiato precedentemente. Abbiamo inoltre chiesto perché non è stata messa nello scontrino che avevamo pagato e riscossa invece senza alcuna ricevuta fiscale. La risposta è stata vaga dicendoci che è il Comune ha stabito che loro dovessero riscuoterla! La cosa non mi ha convinto affatto e appena uscita vado alla ricerca dei rappresentanti della polizia locale e mi imbatto col comandante e con un carabiniere che appena mi hanno ascoltato mi hanno detto che mi sarei dovuta rifiutare di pagare l'euro perché non esiste nessuna disposizione nel Comune di Taormina che stabilisce che nei ristoranti si debba pagare alcuna tasse a favore del Comune, tanto più se il pagamento viene fatto "a nero"! Molto contrariato, il Comandante mi ha detto di fare le recensioni sui siti vari e che il giorno dopo si sarebbe occupato della questione! Ah il ragazzo in cassa è un biondino! Occhio gente ai raggiri evitate questo luogo anche se vi promettono lo sconto al parcheggio! Ci sono luoghi dove verrete trattati meglio! Io proporrei la visita ispettiva dell"ufficio di igiene,la guardia di finanza in borghese! Se proprio volete provare, non pagate nulla in più di quello che è sul conto se vi chiedono rifiutate!
