A must-see item on any Murano visit, this museum at first seemed a bit expensive but later turned out to be incredibly expansive and well worth the ticket price! The exhibits covered every kind of Murano glassmaking practice, over several millennia, conveniently numbered 1-10, displaying in chronological order. The descriptions were well written and concise, and the pieces themselves were of overwhelming variety. I dropped a star firstly because I thought some of the rooms lacked descriptions, for example the first room, which is all about ancient glass making, none of the pieces on display have any information about them, they're just there. Secondly, room 9 was undergoing renovation when I visited, which was disappointing since it was about modern/contemporary Murano and what I was especially interested in. Still, a good experience, a lovely old building with tons of history, and a beautiful walled garden (pictured) to finish off relaxing in.

It has 10 rooms that take you through a chronological development of glass, from early simple glass pieces through modern glass art. If you read the explanations of the pieces as well as the plaques on the wall explaining each room, you do get a pretty good idea of the development of glass worldwide and particularly of the styles in Murano. In particular, I learned about the development of millefiori glass portraits, which I had not seen before. We spent a little over an hour, but it was a nice air-conditioned break from the outside heat and humidity. It's a relatively small museum for the price - I think we paid €46 for a family of four. That's the only drawback - even at a fairly leisurely pace, it's a short visit for the price.

Terrible experience!! Been here once two years ago. Collections are great and decided to revisit with my family. Bought three tickets, but didn’t realise their last admission is at 5pm until we were at the museum. We were 10 minutes late and they refused our entrance. That’s not a problem at all as that our very own problem. One very kind female staff asked us to email the museum for a refund and when we asked for the email details, a several staff came stopped her and interrupted our conversation. One old male staff and a mid-age lady kept shouting “closed”, “go”, and “polizia”. None of them speak English and couldn’t communicate properly. I was stating numerous time we weren’t trying to get in but just wanna get the museum contact, none of them are willing to provide and wouldn’t let us know any of their staff id. They only kept screaming and shouting, even though we were very calm and using all our body gesture to let them know, the only thing we are asking for is the museum’s contact. All these scenes stopped only until we raised our camera, they calmed down for a bit. And after we stopped recording, they forcefully pushed us out and shut the door immediately, noted that is half an hour until the closing time. This is very disappointing. Not sure if racism is occured due to our asian face.

SERVIZIO BABY PIT STOP INESISTENTE! In genere non faccio mai recensioni ma questa non potevo non farla perché mi sono sentita troppo umiliata per come sono stata trattata dall’agente della sicurezza, solo perché avevo bisogno di allattare mio figlio di 3 mesi in poco tempo. Ho organizzato questo tour quando ancora non sapevo di essere incinta, ho deciso di non disdire perché avevo letto di questo baby pit stop, dei luoghi creati appositamente in cui era possibile allattare e cambiare i propri bimbi in maniera totalmente gratuita. Ieri, con un bambino di 3 mesi mi reco presso questo museo perché avevo letto che aveva questo servizio, infatti sul loro sito è confermato! Avevo 45 min di tempo prima di prendere l’altro traghetto ed il museo era a 15 min a piedi dalla fermata! Così io e mio marito siamo scesi dal traghetto e sapevamo che avremmo avuto circa una mezz’ora per cambiare il nostro bimbo e poterlo allattare prima della partenza. Mi reco all’ingresso di questo museo dove fuori hanno un grosso cartello colorato con scritto: “Baby Pit Stop” e spiego in biglietteria che ho solo una mezz’ora scarsa di tempo e dovevo esclusivamente cambiare ed allattare il mio bimbo di 3 mesi, e che purtroppo non sarei riuscita a visitare il museo a causa dello scarso tempo di permanenza. Interviene un signore che credo fosse l’agente della sicurezza e mi dice che se non avessi pagato l’ingresso non sarei potuta entrare. Avevo letto che il servizio era gratuito ma visto che avevo poco tempo per allattare il mio bambino, ho pagato € 10,00 a persona, quindi € 20,00 (quando tra l’altro sul sito ho letto in un secondo momento che le famiglie con almeno un bambino avrebbero dovuto pagare € 8,50 cad. anziché € 10,00) non ho voluto dilungarla ed ho pagato i biglietti. L’agente mi fa vedere poi il luogo dell’allatamento (che inizialmente non sapeva che ci fosse, glielo ha detto una sua collega, per fortuna più educata di lui) un sottoscala per niente pulito, con delle vecchie poltrone ed addirittura una trappola per topi posizionata lì accanto ed una scala sull’alto dove le persone passavano e potevano vedere che stavo allattando, cosa che mi ha imbarazzata molto. Del luogo di per sé non mi lamento, non era di certo come me lo immaginavo però mi interessava un luogo al caldo dove potermi sedere e nonostante le condizioni quello c’era. Per quanto riguarda il cambio non posso dire come fosse il posto perché avevamo pochissimo tempo e nonostante avesse bisogno, non sono riuscita a cambiarlo perché dovevamo correre a prendere il traghetto. Quello di cui mi lamento è il modo con cui sono stata trattata, perché tutta la gente il fila dopo di me che assisteva alla scena di lui che mi diceva “o paghi o non entri” come se volessi stoccare un ingresso, mi ha imbarazzata moltissimo. Se avessi avuto più tempo sicuramente avrei anche visitato il museo ma in questo caso è solo stata una tappa necessaria per evitare di allattare mio figlio di 3 mesi fuori al freddo. In allegato vi mando il sito dell’Unicef dove descrive come dovrebbero essere questi luoghi e dove è presente anche il nome di questo museo! Se lo avessi saputo prima non avrei mai fatto questo viaggio! Per fortuna non ho ricevuto lo stesso trattamento alla tratta successiva al Museo del Merletto di Burano in cui con una immensa gentilezza mi hanno mostrato dove poter cambiare mio figlio, ed un ufficio riscaldato e pulito dove poter concludere l’allattamento. Eliminate il Baby Pit Stop dai vostri servizi perché non si trattano così le persone, soprattutto se poi rileggo il sito e vedo che il servizio è gratuito.
