Ah, Osteria Al Duomo in Murano—what a find! If you’re looking for a place where the food does the talking, this is it. We were a family of five, and let me tell you, it was the best dining experience we had in Venice and its surroundings, and we’ve had quite a few! Now, imagine this: it’s a warm day, the sun is blazing, and you’re wandering through the enchanting streets of Murano. Where do you go to escape the heat? Straight to Osteria Al Duomo, where we found ourselves in their delightful shaded terrace at the back. It was an oasis—a cool, serene escape from the midday sun. The service here? Relaxed, informal, and utterly charming. None of that pushy, pompous nonsense you sometimes get. It was almost as if they knew that once the food arrived, we’d be completely and utterly captivated—and we were. Every dish felt home-made, brimming with fresh, local ingredients that made each bite a pleasure. I went for the fruit de la mer as I know it is fresh, and let me tell you, it was outstanding! Each mouthful was like a love letter from the sea—briny, fresh, and perfectly cooked. And the house wines? Well, they were delicious. You can tell they take pride in what they pour. But here’s the thing—even if, like me, you’re not particularly inclined towards desserts, don’t skip them here. Trust me. We had the cheesecake and the strawberry spongecake, and both were absolutely divine. These are desserts that make you rethink your stance on sweets, I promise you. And the best part? The cost was very reasonable—something you don’t always find in Venice, let me tell you. This isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an honest, genuine, and authentic Italian dining experience, the kind of place where you can easily imagine the locals gathering for a good meal. So, if you’re anywhere near Venice, hop on over to Murano and make sure you stop by Osteria Al Duomo. You won’t regret it!

We were lucky that this was next to our hotel when we arrived in the evening in Murano and our hotel’s restaurant was full. They have a big terrace in the back. We started with a calamari platter. Yum. I don’t usually like seafood with my pasta but the paste with scampi was so fresh and yummy. The lasagna was soooo good. And I don’t know how they make margherita pizza even better but it is! The only thing that you will notice is the bread is tasteless… just like when we were in Florence. It’s just meant to sop up the pasta sauce. I preferred using the pizza crust for that. After eating we were blown away by the view of the Duomo (cathedral) across the bridge. This restaurant is historic and has roots to as early as 1903 and then it became a cooperative to serve the needs of the people around the area. It was a great first bite in Murano, Venice. The seafood is so fresh. Highly recommend this rustic place with typical Venetian meat & fish dishes + pasta & pizza. We went back the 2nd time & we reordered many dishes. We also tried the pizza diavola and the mille feuille and it was HEAVENLY. Highly recommend. We stayed indoors this time because of my asthma.

Avoid it unless you are starving. Food: 6/10 pizza, nice dough, very well done aubergine, too little tomato sauce, to big courgette chunks that did not cook well and were therefore too watery diluting the pizza flavour Interior: very nice classic Italian, I loved the art and murano chandeliers Service: I have ordered a vegetarian pizza without mozzarella with extra mushrooms to make it vegan. I was disappointed to find a tiny bit of mozzarella (circled in blue) but I absolutely do get that mistakes happen and it was a trace amount so I have removed that bit and ate the full pizza. I have mentioned it to the waiter showing the trace amount at the end of the visit and I am very glad I left it till the end as he decided to cause a scene and gaslight me by keep telling me that I have ordered mushrooms instead mozzarella... I very well knew what I have ordered but I am rather disappointed the old waiter was incapable of identifying their "quality" ingredients in their dishes. I also did not like that they applied a vegan tax on their vegan pizza putting it in the specials section whist not having ANY vegan cheese and pricing it €5 more than average pizza.

Walking in we were amazed with the so well-made Murano glass pizza! We sat down inside, because weather was unfortunately getting really bad and was gonna rain. Understandably, the waiters took a lot of time to tend to us, since they were bringing in the other guests' food, while the customers were running inside. We got two cocktails (one Mimosa and one Bellini), one big mix of seafood with pasta (no fish, just crustaceans and a but of squid) and when we tried ordering some Pasta Bolognese, the waiter kindly told us that it was it would be too much, as the mix for two people was big. It was, extra plate of pasta would be too much. After we finished, we got one Millefoglie Fragole (millefeuille strawberry) and one Cheesecake Pistacchio. With that were surprised with 2 small glasses of lemoncelo that they offered us free of charge. It was a very pleasant experience overall with every plate being delicious. The language barrier and the unfair treatment of customers is not just here. It's a Venezian-wide (if not Italian-wide) problem that needs to be eradicated.

The place is located near an old church in a lovely neighbourgood. We liked the food of this restaurant (I ordered spaghetti with cuttlefish in cattlefish ink). I would not say this is a tourist trap, as the food had a genuine taste. Even more: while we were there we've seen a big group of Italians dining there. Must mean, that the food is preferred not only by tourists, right? The prices were not too expensive (as for a place in Venice, a tourist destination). A descent lunch would coust you up to 45€/2 people. The only problem we've had were the pidgeons outside, which were running around looking for some bread crumbs, flying over and/or landing at the empty tables. The staff does not seem to be worried about them and never scared them off. Understandable, the waiters have other work to do and they can't run after the pidgeons all day long, but I don't want to think about parasites distributed by these birds at my table. Some scarecrow (like a raven stature) would be useful to scare off pidgeons.

Gorgeous food - it’s hard to imagine at first go that the place is so spacious. It’s away from the busy streets of Murano making it desirable to have lunch. Great place to escape the busy nature of Murano high streets and relax for a couple of hours. You can reach either by a walk or the river boat but the boat is preferable. Food choices are very good - fresh and delicious food. Pizzas were amazing with lots of vegetarian choices as well. Mozarella Cheese was amazing. The place is tranquil - choose a seat in the gardens. Service is a bit slow however, not a great place if you’re in a rush. English translation in the menu is not great.
