I was a guest at the Hotel and had dinner here one night.
The space is really nice. There's a lot of space between guests, each table is decorated with local glass art. I really enjoyed hanging out there.
Service was pretty slow but we were warned that it would be because of lack of staff in advance. If they tell you that, believe them, we left the restaurant 2 hours later.
The food:
The best dish was the gnocchi in mushroom sauce. The mushrooms were fresh and very flavorful, the sauce well executed and the gnocchi pretty chewy.
Second came the mussel spaghetti: very strongly seafood-y, perfect al dente cooking.
If I leave you with one piece of advice: stick to antipasti. This is their strength.
Other dishes:
Side vegetables: basically a simple ratatouille, which is very well priced and very enjoyable! The vegetable flavors blend together nicely, and seasoning gets out of the way.
Secondi - calamari & artichoke: biggest let down. They stuffed the calmar with some paste, I still don't know exactly what it was, but the flavors weren't there. The artichoke looked great, but it was hard to find an edible piece to it. The leaves were not fried enough to be edible (basically fibers in your mouth), and the core was really tiny.
Secondi - pork belly: the pork was dryer than I expected and the sauce lacked interesting flavors (mostly fat & salt here).
Accompanying bread: while home-made, the bread could use a bit more work. It's lacking a bit of flavor, the crumb is too dense and the crust too thick. I think some levain and longer proofing time would help.
Dessert - profiteroles (nutella): the inside of the profiterole isn't ice cream (it's room temperature vanilla cream), just beware. It is also topped with pure nutella. Very decadent.
Overall, this is a great place to dine in if you stick with pasta and side dishes. Excellent for a romantic dinner. The secondi would need a little bit more work for this...
Read moreThe service is a mess. Two staff members were arguing in front of the hotel when we walked in. The restaurant manager and the severs don't communicate and one says one thing that the other says is not possible. But to be told by the restaurant manager that something is possible only to be told by the waiter that it's not.
Additionally, the servers seem to be in training as there were several mistakes made - brining the wrong beers, spilling wine on the table, forgetting to bring new cutlery after the initial course. For some reason the restaurant manager decided to ocercompensate by brining a whole plate of cutlery - photo attached.
Food was fine. Tiny portions of for the price. The fish had bones left uncleaned. The service was so slow that we had to check in several times. One of the managers did eventually comp some of our drinks.
The bathrooms are... interesting, with the male bathroom doors' locks not fully working.
For such a hotel and expections this experience was very dissapointing. Killed the whole vibe of the evening.
Otherwise the restaurant is beautiful and everything is on theme. I hope this is not the typical experience. I love Hyatt as a chain and their restaurants...

Osteriva is the ideal place to celebrate special moments, thanks also to the elegant and intimate environment that invites you to spend an unforgettable evening. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience a unique gastronomic journey in the heart of Venice, far from the usual tourist spots.
A true gem that made our vacation even more special.
I would also like to thank the director of the Hyatt hotel, Mr. Armando, for recommending this restaurant to my partner in order to surprise me. Mr. Armando is a person of great professionalism who truly knows what needs to be done...
