Vianello Nadia Murrine — Local services in Venice

We went here as part of Vennice Glass week and were fortunate enough to have a go at making our own murrinas (glass tile). This was an amazing experience and was the highlight of our trip to Venice. The couple running the demonstration and workshop were wonderful, so kind and helpful, and worked hard to explain everything in English.

Making the murrina itself was enjoyable and we got to choose our own design. I'm not sure that this workshop is available outside of glass week, but the products alone make it worth a visit. The murrinas are sold around Venice so keep your eye out!

Vianello Nadia Murrine is a fantastic place to make your very own piece of Murano glass with expert guidance from your host Davide and his wife Raquel.

First Davide explains the technique and how various effects are achieved. Then you are taken to the workshop to create what's effectively a mosaic of glass discs. This will then be fired and sent on to you by post.

We had a great time. Davide and Raquel were on hand to cut glass, find the right colours and shapes and offer encouragement and advice in excellent English. We never felt pressured for time and all managed something we could feel proud of. Can't wait to see the end result...

I found this glass workshop online and am so glad that I booked it for my mom and sister when they visited me while I was studying abroad! We chose to make either earrings or a pendent and they turned out amazing. Davide and Raquel welcomed us to their personal workshops where we got to see where they make the pieces. They were kind and shared great information abut Murano. Their gallery area also contained beautiful pieces that they create and sell themselves.
