We loved our visit here! The owners were so friendly and took the time to show us their lab where they create all the glass art and explain the whole process, all without giving us any pressure at all to purchase anything. We ended up choosing to make our own pieces of mosaic jewelry, which was a great deal for 15 euros. It takes you up to 15-20 minutes to choose the pieces of mosaic you want to put in your jewelry and then they heat it up quickly in their oven and then it takes 45 minutes for it to cool before you can take your piece home. If you get there before closing, they will still let you get started on the process and they stay open for some time afterwards to finish your piece. You don't have to make any appointments beforehand, we just walked in. Would highly recommend for a friendly and authentic local Murano jewelry experience. Just fyi, they don't do glass blowing here, they focus on mosaic...
Read moreI was going to the next door glass factory but it was closed and bumped into this lovely gentleman Cesare, who works at Ferro Toso workshop. He kindly offered to show me around the workshop and patiently explained the process and techniques of making different pieces (plates, coasters, jewelries etc.). He also told me his stories of how he got into glass making. I had a very nice time and ended up buying a small plate - all pieces there are very reasonably priced. He also mentioned that he holds hands-on workshop sessions for guests/tourists in the summer time (he loves to teach) as the weather is nicer and everyone can sit in the garden - this might be very fun for family with kids. Definitely pay a visit when you...
Read moreI recommend this place to everyone. We participated in workshop and did our own jewelry and it was fun, creative and peaceful experience far away from Venice crowds. The place and their artworks are very beautiful and the prices are resonable. During workshop Cesare told us interesting facts about making murrina, helped if someone was in trouble with their piece and shown the whole process. We took our time and made two bracelets, one necklace and a keyring and paid 15 euro for each. Just one warning - if you want to make a bracelet, be aware that the size of it is quite big, for sure not for thin wrists. To sum up, if you're going to be in Venice and wondering if this place is worth visiting - don't...
