Nice.
One of the small onsens in main area of Beppu where there are few tourists and only local people seem to come. You can enjoy a hot spring with good water for 250 yen.
There are two baths with fairly high water temperatures, but one is a little hotter. I think it would have been a more enjoyable time if it had been a cold winter.
It was a better experience than the large hot springs in Beppu.
The admission fee is very cheap, but the lock is 100 yen and is non-refundable. Local people do not use paying lockers but leave their personal belongins in open baskets. It doesn't seem that dangerous, so I don't think you need to spend about half of the admission fee on locker fees.
There are no towels or amenities, so you must prepare your own.
Some accommodations in Beppu provide an amemity set for visiting hot springs, so if you want to visit these small hot springs, inquire...
Read moreMy personal favorite in Beppu - it has showers and 2 pools with different temperatures. Visitors beware, Beppu is well known for its geothermal "hells", and I found "hell" to be an accurate descriptor. To me, the pool labeled "lukewarm" was so hot that it was at the very edge of my maximum tolerance, and I prefer hotter baths water than your average foreigner. The water temperature is much hotter than your typical Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka onsen. I didn't see any locals braving the hotter of the two pools either. Great value at ¥250. Despite the location having no free lockers, your stuff will be safe. I left my keys behind and when I returned about an hour later, the lady behind the counter had them for me before I could even pull out my phone...
Read moreDuring my trip in Oita, Japan 🇯🇵, I visited this hot spring/bathhouse ♨️ in the morning while staying at my accommodation.
Though it wasn’t my first time at a hot spring, this place really left a wonderful impression. It’s small and cozy, with a lot of local visitors, which made it feel authentically local—exactly what I was looking for.
The price is ¥250, and you have to bring your own amenities including a towel: towels, shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer.
On the last day, I visited a different hot spring but found myself wishing I had come back here instead. This place already holds cherished memories, and I’d definitely want to return if I visit the...
