The blinding sun of Kasoshima was a welcome relief after freezing bite of Tokyo.

The #KagoshimaCityMuseumofArt is an interesting site with a number of galleries featuring artworks of local Kagoshima artists. Love the 16th century antiques, paintings, fine porcelain and woodblock print pieces.

Beautiful time at the Museum today. Not only was there a special exhibition on Bauhaus, with many Kandinsky prints, but the permanent exhibitions feature works by Pisarro, Cezanne, Monet, Moore, Picasso, Dali, Rodin, Renoir, and many more! All fir 300 yen! The only negative is the dirth of English-language information--pretty much the artist's name and medium used and some titles of works. MORE...

This is a really interesting museum. It often has special exhibits in multiple places throughout the museum. The special exhibits usually focus on local artists and local art history. There are also art classes available to members, which are held a few times every month. There are parking lots nearby, but it can be difficult to find a space on...

Wasn’t sure how to rate to be honest. It’s not bad that’s for sure. It’s small, provincial and OK. The gallery itself on the second floor is small but well presented. When we visited there was an exhibition of local <16 year olds which was probably the highlight of the visit. It’s easy to get to, cheap to get in and no reason not to go.

Costs 300 yen to enter and has a large number of minor works by major painters. It's almost like someone had a shopping list saying I want a Monet, check. How about a Warhol or Picasso, check. If you have a bus pass it's 240 yen to enter
