This temple is set in the cutest and really beautiful Japanese garden. It’s such a peaceful spot to walk around, take in the surroundings, and enjoy the atmosphere. The garden is really well kept, and strolling past the temple adds a lovely touch to the whole experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby.

光宗公の霊廟である三慧殿は1646年に建てられ国の重文に指定されています。光宗公は若干19歳の若さで亡くなり、父の2代目藩主である忠宗公によって建立されたものです。内部の厨子には支倉常長が西欧より持ち帰った様々な文化が反映されており洋バラ、水仙、トランプのダイヤ♦️、スペード♠️、ハート♥、クローバー♣模様が描かれています。なので鎖国政策の幕府に対して伊達家の霊廟と申告し扉を開けることはありませんでした。そのため350年間もの間、秘蔵とされてきたのです。 三慧殿は庭園を抜けた先の、静かな落ち着いた中に厳かに佇んでいます。

秋には期間限定で、紅葉のライトアップがあります。開始は17時30分から。紅葉と言えば同じ宮城県の鳴子が有名で、ここは鳴子ほど有名ではないかも知れないですが、夜の紅葉ライトアップはとても素敵でした。家族連れよりは、カップルが多かったかも。結構寒いので、防寒着は必須かと思いました。 チケットは事前に買う必要あるので注意。 駐車場は、近くまで行くと有料ばかりです。しかも、ほぼ満車の可能性が高い。なので、歩いて10分くらいの無料駐車場に停めて歩くのがベターかと。 松島は観光地なだけあって、食事やお土産が楽しめますが、16時～17時までには閉まる店が多...
