One of my favorite airports. This review is for the international terminal.
Shopping - This airport has all the gift shopping you need. Tokyo Banana, Winter Lover, Kit Kat Sake Flavor, whatever you want to bring back, they most likely have it so leave your shopping until the end.
Transportation - Plenty of ways to get to this airport. Check for Airport Limousines. Many train stations have a direct bus to the airport and you don't have to worry about pushing your luggage through the crowd. Dirt cheap at around $9-12.
Sightseeing - They are definitely getting ready for all the tourism. Plenty of beautiful lighting in the terminal, bridge, and you can go to the top floor to look out
Restaurants - They do have everything you would want to eat one last time. Tonkatsu, Ramen, Sushi, Curry, Takoyaki, etc BUT they are priced higher and the food quality is so-so.
Wifi is Fast! - I held onto my pocket wifi until I almost boarded then I realized the wifi provided is SOOO MUCH FASTER! around...
Read moreI love this airport terminal. It's nice, clean, and somehow relatively peaceful, as far as airports go. Arrival is exciting, and departure is so bittersweet. Narita is fine, but Haneda is just special to me. 💖
There's a convenient Seven up in the front for basic konbini stuff, and a fun traditional Japan-themed shop/restaurant area past the check-in desks upstairs (before security). I recommend Suginoko or, if you're in a hurry, the little ramen place. On the other side of security there is high-end shopping like Louis Vuitton or whatever, if you're into that, as well as a large souvenir shop.
Don't miss the view of Tokyo from the open-air deck, especially at dusk!
These days arrivals are a little painful due to the sheer numbers of visitors resulting in long lines at immigration, but it's still less painful than coming back to the US (especially now). Departure is as...
Read moreBuy your souvenir before you get to the airport. You are literally paying twice the amount at the airport, lots of selection of items and name brands stuff, know you are paying premin (being ripped off albeit due to airport tax?). Big, clean place though well indicated, you have to look to find stuff. JRailPass for tourists has to be bought in advance and activate upon arrival at its own JRailPass office. Suica card is equivalent to Oyster card in London and Bart card in SFO. There is a deal for one train ticket from Haneda Airport to anywhere jn Tokyo for 500Y instead of 600Y+ (the typical one leg charge) BUT it can only be used on the purchased date only (so it’s only a good deal if you don’t have a JRailPass and only going to your hotel upon airport arrival only). They have a system of locker you can rent here,...
