Izumi Tenku no Yu Haneda Airport — Local services in Tokyo

Cozy and quiet, away from the crowded airport terminals, which was wonderful for my long layover in Haneda. I visited on a Tuesday from about 18:00 to 21:00.

The staff could speak English, and there were also a handful of foreigners who visited. Everyone was respectful and quiet on a weekday evening, until a group of Chinese tourists arrived. Although it was a weekday, I noticed that more visitors and large families arrived after 8pm, so I would definitely try to enjoy my bath before that and get a resting spot beforehand.

Honestly, I’ve seen so many people complain about the high price but I find it extremely reasonable for the following reason: the other onsen near the airport (Heiwajima) is a 15min car ride away and while I visited Heiwajima some time ago, the cab ride there already costed more than half of the entry fee here at about 3,000 yen. While Heiwajima has a more affordable entry fee at around 2,000 yen, they have unfortunately limited their free bus rides back to the airport to specific timings between 1-5am, and I wasn’t feeling it having to pay for a ride to and from and spending more money than what I'd spend here, which is within walking distance to my departure terminal.

The only gripe was having to find a place to store my luggage and since I was flying in from elsewhere with no cash in the form of Japanese Yen, there are only a few places which allow card payments for the luggage storage - try T3 departure near gates I J K L where there are 2 counters run by different companies (one by JAL) which does accept card payments. I'm putting this here so that any visitors who read this would find more ease in planning their trip, since a lot of the customer service staff at the airport do not know which counters (or where) do accept card payment. I was running about like a headless chicken for a while, so I had to waste an additional half hour which could have been used for a longer rest in the onsen.

I deducted 1 star because the onsen here did not have quite as many water options as Heiwajima and the onsen was OK, although not as healing.

However, the outdoor 'Onsen with a View" was wonderful, and so were the bedrock baths. The bath facilities for the ladies were aplenty as well, even providing oil and face cleansers, hair ties and...

I don't really understand the low reviews... The price, while high, is posted everywhere. If you don't want to pay a high price then don't come! It isn't a surprise. I really like this onsen (note: I live in Japan and go to onsen a lot.) It is incredibly clean, the cleanest I have been to, and both the wet and dry parts of the sauna were really high quality and nice. The showers have this fancy shower head with three different water pressures, and they have like 6 baths with different temperatures... There is a normal sauna and an "herb" sauna as well, which I believe changes seasonally. The restaurant is decent enough (though unless you need to I wouldn't really recommend it, not good enough to time your arrival for, but decent enough if you're hungry at the onsen) and you can get a view of Mt. Fuji from it. From the women's outdoor onsen you CAN in fact see planes flying away. I didn't find it too noisy. There are lots of signs in English (perhaps those are new, given older reviews.) BY the way, if you are a foreigner with a tattoo, just an FYI generally about onsen in Japan: if they can't see it when you enter, then you're fine. If your tattoos are small no one will notice. Ofc if possible I'd recommend strategically holding a bath towel when walking around over the tattoo or using tape to cover it (just say it's an injury.) No one will kick you OUT if they see a tattoo. They just won't let you IN if they see it. So just be smart. There are lots of amenities in the bathroom for showering/cleaning yourself (you can come with nothing and be fine.) Personally thought it was worth the price, even if just for the cool views from the modern onsen/bathing area. Very relaxing. Also the massage was good. I wouldn't recommend staying here overnight since the relaxation chairs don't lie totally flat, but for those who want to sleep here for a bit there were signs that they sell 'sleep kits' that include eye mask, earplugs etc etc. I'd definitely...

Had a terrible experience. I was staying at the hotel so I only had to pay $20 but I told them I had never been there before. The lady that dealt with me didn't explain anything about the tab payment thing that my friend told me about so I didn't know how to buy anything.

There was supposed to be a robe for rent and I wasn't carrying anything so it was clear that I had nothing to change into. I understand that the hotel guests should bring up their robes but I was also happy to just pay because I was not in a great mind at the time.

It was late at night around 11:30pm and there were so many people there. I went to the bathing area which I have never been to a onsen before or any other but I researched how to do things before hand so I had a vague idea on the experience.

It was terrible, I thought the water would be still and calm but it was constantly moving from water pouring in and this woman and her kid that were swimming around. I tried to move to different pools to get away from them but they kept following me. I went outside and you can't see anything, they have this horrible "privacy screen" that completely blocks the view. Totally disappointing.

As for the water moving around too much, if you are a floater you will constantly be drifting away. I could not relax because I was holding onto the edge trying not to lose my body.

I gave up and went to the chair room which had tons of people. Since I didn't have a robe I was there in my jacket and everything just felt so wrong. They should have helped me get a robe, explained how to buy things like drinks.

My friend is male and is not japanese but they explained everything to him and there were no kids when he went in. Obviously cause they are all at the women's side being annoying.

Also put up some bloody multi language signs so foreigners know where to wash and what to do if you are too lazy to explain it.
