This building is only available for outside view, but there is another one further inside the garden where you can peek at the internal structure. The entrances to the Imperial Palace are all gated off, so there isn't a closer view. The area is fairly empty, so there is always a good chance to...

💯 Hyakunin Bansho – Die 100-Mann-Wache Bedeutet wörtlich: „Wachhaus der 100 Männer“

War die größte der drei überlebenden Wachen der Edo-Zeit (1603–1867).

📍 Standort: Zwischen dem San-no-Mon und Naka-no-Mon – also an einem superwichtigen Zugang zum Inneren der Burg (Honmaru).

🛡️ Vier Gruppen von Samurai sicherten das Tor:

Jede Gruppe bestand aus 20 höheren Samurai (Yoriki)

und 80 niedrigeren Samurai (Dōshin) → Macht zusammen 100 Mann pro Schicht – darum der Name!

Sie arbeiteten im Schichtdienst – Tag und Nacht, und das Gebäude ist etwa 45 m lang – richtig beeindruckend, wenn man davor steht.

💭 Fazit: Das war die Elite-Wache der Burg, nicht wegen Adel, sondern wegen Masse...
