I visited Abbey Road Tokyo for the first time in 30 years, this time with my partner and Beatles-loving teenager. First, the music was fantastic. Although they play covers, they are excellent musicians in their own right and they aren’t just a cover band—they’re awesome and entertaining. Effortlessly creating impromptu sets based on audience requests, they performed live many songs that the Beatles only played in studio, recreating live the weird and wonderful sounds and effects with various tools and their voices.
Second, their focus on the audience experience is something that you don’t get often. Some in the audience were clearly regulars, and they made sure that these people felt special without alienating the rest of us. When I told the server that I had been here long ago and that I came so that my teen could experience the show, she presented him with a pin and then brought us to take commemorative photos with the band between sets. Needless to say, this was his most memorable experience during our trip to Tokyo.
I hope that it’s not another 30 years before I get to go again. I’d like to make it a regular visit when I’m...

We only made a reservation at 2pm the same day and were seated towards the back, however we still had a decent view and could hear the band perfectly. It was a great show, it was such fun being in a room full of Beatles fans singing along together, even though we don't speak the same language we all had this love of music in common. It was our first time going and at the end of the show they came to take a photo of us, then gifted us a souvenir print of the photo in a nice envelope to remember the occasion! We'd already had a great night and that was such an unexpected and lovely touch The drinks were expensive for Japan, but the food was reasonably priced. The cover charge (entrance/music fee) is also high but as this ensures the band are well paid and the venue can continue to be sustainable, we didn't mind paying it. It is non-smoking inside too, which was a huge bonus for me compared to other...
