There are 2 main buildings the first buidling is smaller, featuring exhibitions about geography and biology, about the ecosystem when animals first appear in japan to the age of human. Not many photoesque places in the first buidling. You will enjoy the first buidling in you are a biology or geology nerd. the second building is still about animals, but have more human technology aspect like radio/computer/clock technology, and I think would be more enjoyable for non-biology nerd. Please don't miss the second buidling if you go to this museum. For people who are not really interested in science, I think this is a good place to kill time, but not a must go place. But if you love science, this place is recommended. For tourist, there is the headpiece for listening to english description, as the exhibitions are all in japanese, you have only the headpiece or google translate to help you. The entrance fee is very cheap, 600Yen.
80% of the signs aren't in English so there aren't as many tourists here as in the Tokyo National Museum but if you are motivated to translate everything it's a must do.
