I hv rented from Times few times in other locations like Osaka n Fukuoka and service was good. But this time returning the car at this particular Haneda airport shop was very disappointing. We booked the car online to be returned at 9pm as this was the latest closing time for this shop. We had the car returned few minutes before 9pm and was expecting to get a shuttle to the Haneda airport but was told that there was no shuttle service after 8:40pm. It’s only common sense that you would offer shuttle service to the airport when customers return the rental at the latest time you accept the return. There was another group of customers also in dismay when they found out no shuttle service was offered. This guy I believe is the shop manager was very rude about the situation too. When we asked the lady who handled our return how else we could get to the airport she told us the only way is to take a taxi which would cost around ¥5,000 for the 3km drive to the airport and there was 6 of us including small children which means we had to take 2 taxis. We then searched on google map to find out there was a train station 5-6 mins walk down the street from the rental shop that would only take 3 stations to get to Haneda airport and cost ¥210 for the ticket. The shop didn’t even bother to tell us there is this option, remember this is supposed to be an airport rental return shop and you think they would at least try to provide transportation options for customers when they failed to provide the shuttle service in the first place. But judging from their “I dun give a fxxk to our customers” attitude, perhaps this is their way of getting joy out...
Read moreContrary to many of the previous reviews we had a very positive experience with Times rental, who funnily enough were cheaper than their competition and accepted cash for reserved bookings! Our car was of a good quality, the booking process was quick and easy and the staff were kind and helpful.
It seems the negative reviews mostly refer to supposedly rude staff and a long wait for the shuttle service. To these people I would say:
if you are polite to the staff and return the car on time and undamaged you should have no problems. You can’t expect all the staff to speak perfect English for you, although incidentally they all did speak very good English here! Lots of the negative reviews smack of entitlement from tourists who expected their late returns, scratched cars or failure to return a fuel receipt as asked to be overlooked with a smile and a wink.
you are not required to take the shuttle bus! There is nothing stopping you from taking some initiative and getting the subway to Odori and walking to the rental office.
We were put off by some of these reviews and almost didn’t bother with Times car rental. But if you are a normal nice person…...
Read moreI don't normally leave reviews, but after reading the existing reviews and comments, I felt like I had to. I booked the car through Europcar, but when I was planning the pick-up, I realised that they were actually working with Times, and that there was not a physicial Europcar office in Tokyo Haneda. After reading the reviews on this page, I was admittedly scared and worried of the experience I was going to have, but to my surprise, I had a smooth, professional, and great experience overall. There were absolutely no problems! We were already in Tokyo, so we went directly to the Times car rental shop two stops away from the airport, had no problems with pick-up (they accepted my international driver's license). The staff were friendly and the process was quick. On the way back, we had a smooth drop-off, which was an even quicker process, and took advantage of the free quick shuttle to the airport. I would definitely recommend this company, and would rent from them again when I'm...
