Happy 100th Kurt Jr.! Amazing tribute to a one of a kind being. A tour with Curator Chris is an experience not to be missed. A concise history of the man for those learning about Kurt for the first time that had my guest (a non-KV super fan… a Nonnegut? Cringe?) nodding, smiling, laughing, and genuinely interested in learning more about this treasured hoosier she doesn’t typically read. If you are a die hard you’ll probably want some time to digest all they have to offer. If his life and writings changed your life and how you view it, be warned, it can be emotional….how did his clarinet case (handwriting) get me so emo? Take a trip, become a member, tell your friends. Speechless. “This is my Graceland” -A.V. (Post script, really cool gift shop with nice blend tees under $25. Kurt is so proud wherever he is hanging out in time).

Their heart is in the right place, but this is not a good museum. Want to learn about Kurt Vonnegut? Good luck. The timeline is jumbled and hard to follow, and I went back and forth a number of times but couldn't figure out when he died (FYI: he died in 2007. Can you find it on the timeline photo? Can you figure out how to read the timeline in order?!). There's not much "there" there with the exception of an excellent standalone section about the bombing of Dresden and Vonnegut's involvement in that episode. The museum seems to have money, and good designers, but they haven't figure out their content or who their visitors are yet. Just FYI, I admire Vonnegut a lot and was looking forward to learning more about him. Disappointed.

This is a great museum. It has many artifacts from Kurt Vonnegut's life and work. But that's not all. There is a focus on the things that mattered to him: freedom of expression, local jazz and being a decent human. There is a small concession area that serves snacks and drinks, including some alcohol (after noon for that) as well as a beautiful balcony with views of downtown. Patrons can even rent books. Each time I go I am delighted by something I didn't notice the time before. They offer multiple educational activities and are activists in the fight against censorship. It is also part of N.A.R.M. (North American reciprocal Museum) program. What else could you ask for? Yes there is a small gift shop too.

This was a very underwhelming experience. While there might be a couple eye catching visual effects for some of the displays, over all the museum is light on actual information about Vonnegut. The third floor is the most museum like of the entire building. Most of the floor is devoted to a very superficial exploration of Slaughterhouse Five. There is also some information about Vonnegut, however that is also fairly light in details. The second floor is mostly devoted to an almost pointless...

This museum is a must visit for everyone. Whether you’re a Vonnegut super fan or just an avid reader or someone who just loves history, culture, human rights, etc., this museum has something to offer for all who walk in.

The exhibit’s themselves are wonderfully organized and have a lot of care and detail put into them. The combination of Vonnegut’s own life story and artifacts along with other artist’s interpretations and inspired works all interwoven through the displays really helps to...
