A birthday date night led to trying out Skyline Club and as a couple first timers, we weren’t sure what to expect. 36th floor with a spectacular view of Monument Circle and somehow, that became an afterthought. The food, without question, stole the show. If you are reading this, the restaurant is usually available to members only. I’m not sure how long it’ll be open to the public, so take advantage of this while you can.
View – Best in the city Atmosphere – Elegant, up to date Service – Topnotch, start to finish. Chef came out, GM checked on us and our waitress was fantastic Drinks – Nice selection, started with champaign and then each had a cocktail – I went with a Manhattan and my wife enjoyed a Peach Cosmo FOOD – Skyline Brussels Sprouts, Pan Seared Sea Scallops, Asian Grilled Lamb Chops, Crushed Potatoes. The brussels sprouts were quite possibly the best I’ve ever had…and when on any menu, I order. Cooked to perfection with a chili honey glaze spread over goat cheese. The crushed potatoes were delicious but as the only basic item ordered, got lost in the shuffle. We brought most of the potatoes home as leftovers and created a breakfast dish the next day that was phenomenal. As far as the main courses, we haven’t stopped talking about them. The Pan Seared Sea Scallops dish was incredible and the thoughtfulness of the plating and pairings with corn puree, risotto, bacon and blackberry reduction made it memorable. The surprise of the night came with the Asian Grilled Lamb Chops. No words can do this justice and I thank the waitress for introducing this as a popular selection. Soy glazed with stir fried veggies and a cilantro mint sauce. 3 lamb chop lollipops, which can’t be an easy item to properly cook, were handled by the chef with perfection. I’ve ordered this dish from a few high-end restaurants and have never left a review or raved to friends about the experience.
We’ve been fortunate to dine at some great restaurants and we both agree, this is now a favorite. Do yourself a favor and take in the views of the city, enjoy a cocktail and trust the Chef and his team to...
Read moreI took my husband for his 37th birthday this Saturday and unfortunately, we were rushed through the meal. My husband arrived later than I did as he works on weekends and got off later than expected . I would initially made the reservation for 8:15 but when going in to confirm it kicked me back out to the main screen and then just shows one reservation time for 7:45. I made 7:45 reservations and arrived at 7:57, which was late but site said you have up to a 20min grace period and the parking garage machine was having issues so I had to search for parking in the street. I was told upon arrival that the kitchen closes at 8:30 so I basically needed to put my order in. I put in 2 orders just based off what we like, not getting a chance to actually ask and see what my husband actually wanted. I only tipped my waiter $15 because I was pretty upset about service. At right about 9 the waiter comes over to take our candle off the table to prep for cleaning. My husband then politely ask what time they close, although we already knew this info. The waiter says 10 and tells us we can sit and talk as long as we want. Unfortunately it didn’t feel that way. We felt extremely rushed. I just wanted us to enjoy a different upscale restaurant. I’d rather go to The Eagles Nest instead. Weve never felt that way when dinning there. I understand business as my husband and I are business owner’s, but to be rushed is just not a pleasant feeling or experience. Workers should at least be willing to work their full shift hours that are allowed to the guest.maybe this would be best on a weekday for an early dinner. This was our first time here and I only went by hours and instructions provided on the website. There’s also no main sign to show entrance into building so upon arrival my husband walked the entire building before realizing a side back door was the main door for access this night. This was a little confusing but no biggie. Just wanted to explain our experience in full to help the next person who may want to be treated better than we did. I don’t think I gave my husband the best bday dinner...
Read moreView: great if you’re lucky enough to get seated next to it. Service: Not up to par. Food: Thoroughly unimpressed for the price-point.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday on a Saturday night: The attraction here is the view but we were sat in the middle away from the windows, even though our reservation was for 7pm and there were multiple 2-tops open next to the windows that weren’t seated until later in the evening. Our server didn’t know what the ingredients were in the cocktail I wanted to order, and she didn’t seem to care, laughing it off when she didn’t have an answer. Our server was also very unnattentive and consistently didn’t check on us. We were not able to order a 2nd cocktail from her because she did not check on us after we were served the appetizers, but rather the manager was bussing a nearby table and asked if everything was alright after about 20 minutes and took our drink order - only to serve me the wrong drink. The tuna wontons (if you can even call those glorified tortilla chips wontons) was okay, caesar salad and lobster bisque were good enough, and we both ordered the filet mignon cooked medium rare - which came out closer to medium and charred to a burnt crisp on top. The steak was also very dry and flavorless, garnished with two pieces of dry spring mix greens - probably the worst $49 steak I’ve ever had in my life. The manager was very apologetic for the mishap with the service and the drinks, removing the last round from our bill. The server apologized for the drink mishap claiming that their manager “gets frazzled sometimes”, but never acknowledged her lack of attention to our table.
Overall, I’d say you’re obviously paying for the view because the food and service were not what I’d expect for a place charging this much. Good luck getting sat next to the windows and ask for the young man who was serving the tables next to us, clearly doing a stellar job while our server was nowhere...
