Firstly, I'm not in the business of writing long, gushing reviews, but want to make an exception for this.
For context, I originally tried to book this cruise on the Sunday but it wasn't running so the place where I booked suggested another cruise, which was cheaper at 12 dollars instead of 20. When I got to this other cruise, I got on to find there were no seats available and it did not look like a pleasurable way of spending 2 hours so I got off before it left.
Luckily for me, I was able to upgrade my ticket and go with Khopfa the next day instead. Although when I went, it was very quiet, from the way it was set up, it looks like even if it was full, there would be lots of space for everyone.
The drinks are very affordable given the quality of the boat and the dish I tried (Laos sausage) tasted really good. The staff were friendly and attentive, without being too full on (they seemed to be able to gauge how much interaction each party wanted). The host used my name as I left, which was a lovely touch. Even the toilets were very well maintained and of a high standard!
The views from the river were also fantastic.
For 20 dollars, this is an absolute bargain...do your self a favour and don't try to save a bit of money on what will be a vastly...
Read moreWe were recommended by the hotel we stayed to experience the Khopfa Mekong Sunset Cruise. The cruise boat is wonderfully designed to make one feel relaxed. There are plenty of places to sit around, moving from one place to another during the cruise. However we only sat on the upper deck towards the front of the boat. It was so comfortable and relaxing that we just sat there for almost the entire cruise, only walked about occasionally during the cruise. The boat moved slowly along the peaceful Mekong River, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the sun going down for well over 45 minutes in a 2 hour cruise. Well worth the money. We could pay on the boat either in local or US currency. It is slightly cheaper so we opted to pay in you local currency. At the time we enjoyed the cruise in February 2025, it was USD15 per person. Welcome drinks are served and we also purchased additional drinks.
During the cruise, we saw other sunset cruise boats and we thought Khopfa Mekong Cruise boat is the coolest of them all.
We stayed in Kiridara Luang Prabang. We were fetched by the hotel minivan to the cruise boarding point in Luang Prabang and was also picked up by the hotel minivan after the cruise to the dinner venue...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Khopfa Cruise in Luang Prabang, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we stepped on board, the attentive and friendly staff made us feel welcome and ensured our comfort throughout the journey.
The cruise itself was a mesmerizing journey along the Mekong River, showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of Luang Prabang. The boat was well-maintained, providing a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
