The restaurant is conveniently located almost in the heart of Riga and is a beacon of culinary innovation and warm hospitality. From the moment you step through its doors, the exceptional service and cozy atmosphere will make your stay as unforgettable as ours was. We came in for dinner and enjoyed each course. The symphony of flavors crafted with precision and flair makes each dish at Melnā Bite a masterpiece. From the starters, we can recommend the burrata with pickled orange carpaccio, olive oil, and pistachios—a perfect blend of flavors. As the main course go either for the burger or the fish. The farm beef burger with brioche buns, pickled onion, bacon, cheese and vegetables, fried mushrooms with truffle oil, French fries, and homemade spicy - PERFECTION! We never had a better burger. And then there is the fish - the sea bass fillet with confit potatoes, fried vegetables, and cream sauce. The fish was made to perfection, with the sides as well. It is a light dish that will not disappoint. Then there is, of course, the dessert. We ordered the chocolate sphere with whipped cream, blueberry compote with Riga balsam, and blackcurrant ice cream, which comes with hot caramel syrup. No more words are needed. We also tried their drink OCEAN, and it comes with an exciting story 😉 If there's one small critique to offer, we had to wait a little for the check. However, this minor inconvenience didn’t affect our exceptional dining experience at Melnā Bite. We highly recommend a visit as it will exceed your expectations...

We we having dinner yesterday,this was most overpriced meal in a long time. Whole exprerience was a total missunderstanding,when we asked what kind of pasta is on kids menu, answer was “normal white” 🤦‍♀️, after that we find out that it is spaghetti,our daughter got her dish which was “pasta with cheese”,but they served some kind of car shaped pasta with huge chopped chunks of cheese. Dish was untasty. Beer had sour undertaste to it, very strange,since it is not first time we order it. They need to work on presentation of the food, those 2 pc. of fish separeted one from each other,look pretty strange on the plate. And I think most dissapointing was sour cabbage soup with smoked ribs. When you order soup which cost 10,50Eur,you expect to receive full meal equal portion with meat, I do not understant how you have the audacity to servce 300ml of soup with no ribs in it. This is outrageous! We felt like we’be been robbed in the middle of the day. Aaaand cherry on the top of our visit was 10% automatic service fee. Walked out after starters.

We ordered drinks and table water with our food - had time to finish the starters without getting even the water (when we asked after our drinks, the waiter's response was simply "I don't know" after which he ran away).

One of the two main courses was cold when brought to the table, at this point we'd had enough so told the staff we're leaving and asked what we owed for the food. After way too long they demanded that we pay for one out of the two mains ("only one was cold"), the starters AND the drinks (which, even by this time, had not been brought to the table).

We noted several other tables around us having similar issues (not getting drinks, arrogant responses to complaints about cold food), so at least it wasn't just us.

We ended up having to pay for the starters and the "non-cold" main dish - worst 30€ ever spent. Did not even get an apology from the staff.

We spent four days in Riga and this was fortunately our only bad restaurant experience - there are a lot of good options out there, stay away from this one (this one is at the downstairs of the Wellton...
