I recently conducted a site inspection of the Amari Hotel in Johor Bahru and was thoroughly impressed by its blend of modern elegance and strategic location. Nestled in the heart of the city, the hotel offers easy access to key business districts, shopping hubs, and local attractions, making it a convenient choice for both corporate travelers and tourists. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with warm hospitality from the staff, who showcased a professional yet approachable demeanor throughout my visit. They provided detailed insights about the hotel’s facilities and services, ensuring my experience was both informative and pleasant. The hotel’s interiors are sleek and contemporary, with a focus on comfort and style. The rooms I toured were spacious, well-designed, and thoughtfully equipped to meet the needs of today’s travelers. The meeting and event spaces were equally impressive, with modern amenities and layouts that can cater to a variety of functions. Additionally, the dining options at Amari stand out, offering a mix of local and international cuisine in beautifully designed settings. Whether for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, the offerings seem to cater to diverse tastes. Overall, my site visit to the Amari Hotel Johor Bahru showcased its potential as a premium choice in the area, combining convenience, excellent service, and a sophisticated ambiance. It’s a property that I would confidently recommend for both business and leisure stays.

Booked a Superior King room (Room 1519) for a 3D2N stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and our experience was profoundly disappointing. Initial Room Issues (Room 1519): Upon check-in, we found that the safe in our room was not functioning due to a dead battery. We contacted reception and were assured that a manager would attend to the issue within five minutes. However, it took 30 minutes and three follow-up calls for staff to arrive. Due to this delay, we were late for our dinner reservation, causing significant inconvenience. We were also promised that the issue would be resolved while we are out, but the same issue persist when we return to our room that night. Subsequent Room Issues: We were eventually upgraded to a Junior Suite (Room 1720). Unfortunately, the lights and air conditioning in this room intermittently turned off multiple times, including during our showers. The technician informed us that the room’s sensors were not detecting occupancy, suggesting that we open and close the main door to reset the system even during the times that we are asleep — a highly impractical solution for a 5-star hotel. We were then moved to an Executive Club Lounge (Room 1701), a corner room which we told the staff initially to avoid. Despite assurances, the air conditioning was inadequate, and the room remained uncomfortably hot with stale air. The lights and air conditioning continued to turn off intermittently. It was then revealed to us that the filter was faulty. I truly believe that a 5-star hotel like you guys claimed to be should be unholding to higher standards in terms of the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel rooms. Unacceptable Conduct by Concierge Manager: Upon check-out, we were instructed to store our luggage at the concierge area on Level 1. Here, we encountered the concierge manager, Saravena, whose behavior was shockingly unprofessional and rude. He informed us that the storage was full and offered no alternative solutions. When I tried to explain our situation, he interrupted me rudely, stating, “So I have to listen to you now?” His hostile attitude was uncalled for, and his demeanor was more akin to a hooligan than a representative of a 5-star establishment. Despite our polite approach, he dismissed our concerns without any attempt to assist us further. Our anniversary celebration was marred by these repeated issues and the appalling service from the concierge manager. We did not request room upgrades; we merely wanted to enjoy a pleasant stay in the room we initially booked. The lack of professionalism and the numerous room issues were unacceptable for a hotel of your caliber. The conduct of the concierge manager, Saravena, needs immediate attention as it reflects poorly on your establishment’s reputation and the values/code of ethics of the golden key holder he claims to represent. I know he is a golden key holder which I noticed from the badge he was wearing. He futher make it known to us that he is a a golden key holder when we merely asked for his position in the hotel, which was uncalled for. I am shocked by how arrogant he was throughout our conversation. He even have the authacity to question me on why his name was taken down by my wife. To make matter worst, not only did he not propose any feasible solution aside from shunning us away, he even told me to follow him to the storage room just to prove that the room was fully occupied. I am not here to ask anyone to prove anything, just assist us when we need to, especially when we are a paying customer, paying for a 5-star service. It is really a shame that he is an appointed golden key holder by Golden Key Malaysia. We will be making this known to them as well. All the other staffs that attended to us were nice and friendly, Saravena is the only problem. Attached photo was taken from the executive club lounge which the staff claimed to be the best room in the hotel. Tbh, I know luck comes into play during hotel stays, but the encounter with the concierge manager is downright nonsense for a 5 star hotel.

2-Star Review: Amari Hotel Johor Bahru As a professional blogger specializing in hotels, destinations, and culinary experiences, I had high expectations for Amari Hotel Johor Bahru. Unfortunately, the overall experience left much to be desired. The location of the hotel is a major drawback. Situated in a congested area surrounded by ongoing construction, noises from the surrounding restaurants, the environment is neither serene nor convenient for guests looking to relax or explore the city comfortably. This is a significant downside, especially for those seeking a stress-free stay. Even the coffee machine, even it looks new, yet it fails to work. It seems the bathroom is more spacious and luxury compared to the seating area. The room, despite being priced at a premium, felt underwhelming in size and lacked the spaciousness expected at such rates. To make matters worse, there was no dedicated parking for guests—even those staying in the most expensive rooms. This added unnecessary inconvenience to an already underwhelming experience. That said, there were redeeming qualities. The hospitality at the reception area stood out, with the staff being exceptionally courteous and helpful. Additionally, the room furniture was modern and well-maintained, showcasing a commitment to aesthetic appeal and quality. While Amari Hotel has potential, there are significant areas that need improvement to justify its pricing and reputation. For now, it falls short of expectations, especially for seasoned travelers seeking value and comfort.

Located within Zenith Lifestyle Centre & walking distance to neighboring malls. This hotel can be an option for a short stay. Pros: Service is definitely there, almost every staff we encounter will greet us, making us feel very welcome. Breakfast is great in terms of variety & quality, & service staff are quick in clearing the plates. Room is very spacious & clean. However there're a few issues we encounter during our stay; Cons: 1. AC only have 2 modes; room temperature at 24 & set at 20 (I assumed it's centralized), however, both modes doesn't feel cold at all, even the AC in my room at the lowest fan speed at 24 is much colder than the hotel room. 2. Water temperature; we have to adjust to the extreme left just to get the water temperature to warm. Water pressure is fine though. 3. Amenities; The sewing kit box is empty, & the LED from the magnifying mirror doesn't work. The most infuriating part is the toothpaste (refer to attached picture), it's SO hard to tear apart, literally have to use something sharp to poke it instead. Would appreciate if the house keeping could cut along the edge for guests to tear it easily. Would only return if the issues I encountered in the room have been improved or resolved.

I recently stayed at the Amari Hotel in Johor Bahru, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The check-in process was seamless, and I booked two deluxe pool-access rooms, which were perfect as they came with a connecting room. To my pleasant surprise, on the second day, I was upgraded to a junior suite, making the stay even more memorable—thank you for that! The breakfast buffet was exceptional, offering a wide array of dishes. The nasi goreng and prata were my absolute favorites, and the egg station was top-notch. The spread caters to all tastes, ensuring there’s something for everyone. A special shoutout to Nurin from the reception, who truly stood out. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made my stay even more enjoyable. In fact, all the staff at Amari were incredibly friendly and accommodating, but Nurin's hospitality was on another level. Overall, I had an excellent stay at the Amari Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing and enjoyable experience. This was my first time staying at an Amari property, but it certainly won’t be my last. Amari will now be my go-to hotel whenever I’m in Johor Bahru, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to all.

Overall: Comfortable, and located in a strategic location with malls within walking distance. Stayed here because of apparently that's one of the accessible 5-star hotels here in JBCC. What I liked: • Warm and welcoming staff: The staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout my stay. • Convenient location: The hotel's proximity to malls was perfect for shopping and exploring the area. • Comfy accommodations: The bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious and well-maintained. Areas for improvement: • Early check-in experience: Although I arrived early and was told I'd be notified when a room became available, I never received a call despite rooms being ready. Having to inquire at the counter felt unnecessary. • Limited soundproofing: I was assigned a connected room with minimal soundproofing. I could clearly hear conversations from the adjoining room. • Gym shortcomings: The gym was smaller than expected, and it lacked dedicated space for mat exercises or yoga. Additionally, towels were unavailable during my visit, which was inconvenient.
