Yasmin Ahmad at Kong Heng Museum — Attraction in Perak

Visiting Yasmin Ahmad @ Kong Heng Museum was a truly pleasant experience. Conveniently located below BookXcess Kong Heng Ipoh, it appears to be a repurposed old bank, as evidenced by the bank vaults in the basement area.

The museum beautifully showcases the late Yasmin Ahmad’s iconic works, offering a glimpse into her creative genius and the wonderful person she was. It’s always fascinating to see her masterpieces up close, leaving me deeply inspired. Al-Fatihah for her.

I had hoped to purchase one of her merchandise t-shirts, but unfortunately, the staff wasn’t available during my visit. However, I was thrilled to snag a copy of her book, Yasmin How You Know?

Go in without prior knowledge to who the late Yasmin Ahmad is and you be sorely disappointed since it's nothing more than a room full of her work and photographs.

Go in with knowing who is she or with someone that knows who is she and her works, and you will find yourself enjoying the hour long footage of all of her touching short films she made over the years. It was a Saturday afternoon when I visited this place yet it was just me and my partner with another couple in the room watching her clips. Right guys, first things first:Yasmin Ahmad is one of my Malaysian heroes, for a variety of reasons, so I was delighted when, in casual chat with my Grab driver, I discovered there was a museum to honour her. But, finding it.... Surely the directions could be clearer? And the small sign itself, is hidden by foliage, while the entrance door is hard to spot being side by side with the jewelry store.
