You might wonder what to do in Cancún at night, besides going to the bar or club in the hotel zone. Well, parque de las palapas is a great place to get street food and arts and crafts. They also have music, and the park is very lively, especially on the weekend. One of the must tries that everyone on the internet talks about is marquesita. It is basically a waffle roll with cream cheese, nutella, and some kind of shredded cheese, and fruits. I think it tastes okay, but it's not my favorite dessert here. My favorites are the churros and the flan. Idk what ingredients they put in or how they mix the dough, but the churro is crunchy outside but soft inside, and very moist. I have never had any churros in the US that is good like that; I think churros of a random food cart in Havana was very good like this one. The flan is delicious as well; I wish they give us more caramel sauce tho. The drink is probably my least favorite. We have the mango chamoyada and the taste is interesting, very different. I'm not really a fan because it is sour and spicy, and I don't really like either one. The people who sells the food don't really speak english so you might have a hard time communicating if you have extra requests for food or need more napkins fyi.

We were here 2 years ago and the changes are remarkable! The park has added lights, the street cart food is fabulous, the stand food is also terrific. They changed the traffic flow which makes it safer for people to walk from one end of the park. The entertainment is so fun. We’ve been here Friday and Saturday, entertainment from 4pm to midnight. Lots of shops to look at, restaurants. Everyone is very friendly. Restrooms are available, you pay a small price in pesos for access and toilet paper. The new playgrounds are very nice. There are “bowls” at the bottom of the slides to keep children from flying off the end. Lots of seating areas. There is a water play area. Arts and crafts area behind the big stage and a coffee stand that opens at 5p I think. Lots of ice cream stand available. And churros!! There is also a corner store for drinks or snacks within 30 feet of the main stage. They take debit or credit card. Love this place. Really cool local feel. There is a police presence. You can sign up for tours in the area also. I believe the ambulance in the video was blocking for a parade.

Palapas Park is the most iconic park for local people in Cancún. You can find things to eat like "marquesitas" which are hard shell rolled crepes with milk caramel and grated Edam cheese. You can also find "quesadillas" which are prepared on the grill and the "empanadas" which are deep fried quesadillas filled with cheese and other ingredients such as chicken stew, beef stew, pork skin stew, mashed potato, and many other options. The name "Palapas" is because they have a stage simulating a big "hut" and many small "huts" to sit down while you eat or watch the clown show. They also sell handcraft and many other typical things you find in Mexican classic parks. Try not to be there after 11 pm, because people start leaving and it starts being alone. You will enjoy this park as well as many local families. Remember, this is not a luxury park, it is a classical and traditional way of spending a day or an evening at Cancún's downtown.

Loved this square and visited it several times. The food is very good and there are a lot of options. My favourite was the chicken nachos we got from the molcajete place. We also had fried fish and rice from another stall that was pretty good. I was concerned about using their plates and cutlery as they did not use single use takeaway plates or containers. I was concerned for the cleanliness of these items. We did get stomach issues eveytime we ate here as a heads up. But hey- thus is street food. Banos on site 10peso entry not great cleanliness or amenities (no seats no paper) that is standard in Mexico. We visited on a Friday evening after 10pm and the park was POPPING many more vendors came to the square selling churros and desserts. People played music and salsa danced in the middle. There was even a clown. Very awesome evening atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting this park!

We had an airbnb near this area and we loved it. There are heaps of food stores open during the day and even the night, the tacos from most of these stores were great ( we tried 3 different ones, all amazing!) Though definitely come here at night this park transforms into an amazing communal area where people just chill out, eat and have fun! The food is great and VERY cheap here, you have every mexican item you can think of here. You can also just enjoy the markets and get a bit of retail therapy. We did some street parking in the area too so you can park up here. “Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

Fantastic place to relax and vibe just like the locals! And CHEAP!! Everything here is priced below normal. It's a Large area full of booths, tables and stands to get great genuine food, delicious snacks, jewelry, toys, souvenirs, and MORE!! Lovely live music is always being played, large play area for children, restrooms and plenty of festivities to engage in. The R2 bus will take you within a few blocks of this place. If you're driving, there's lots of parking. Google maps will get you there. There is armed security on foot patrol and in vehicles, so you'll be safe any time of day you're there. Take the time to visit Parque de las Palapas. It's 12+ minutes past the Cancun hotel zone and worth every minute you're there.
