My husband and I booked a 9pm cruise. After 60 minutes despite my husband having gone to the restroom before the cruise, he couldn't hold it. I told him to talk to Captain Eric. I didn't at the time know what was discussed and my husband was under the impression that he would wait for him. As soon as my husband's foot hit the dock, Captain Eric pulled away and said the tour must go on. My husband had no phone on him and I wasn't even sure he would remember our hotel because we had just arrived to Amsterdam in the early afternoon. Needless to say I didn't partake in any of the inclusive wine because I was now a female at night going to be left to figure out how to get myself back to my hotel by myself in the dark in a strange city. I didn't want to feel tipsy, possibly making myself a target. The family sitting next to me from the UK were worried about me and spoke to the captain about my predicament. He assured them he would get me back to my hotel safely because of the misunderstanding of leaving my husband at a random pier in Amsterdam. The UK family left me reluctantly because the captain and myself assured them I would get back to my hotel that was 30 minute walk away safely. Then the Captain spoke to the boss and he said it was too long to take me back by boat close to my hotel. Instead the Captain took me to the Leonardo Hotel and more or less dumped me with the bartender to get an Uber The bartender then informed me that the Uber pickup for the hotel was at the other end of the block so I was sent out into the rain again to stand on the corner in the dark as a female. And a bunch of drunk males hung around as I waited for the Uber and I felt terribly vulnerable and at risk. Horrible situation and delt with horrible by...

Our recent experience with Captain Jack Boat Tours in Amsterdam was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped aboard to the time we reluctantly disembarked, every detail was meticulously handled, ensuring a memorable journey along Amsterdam's picturesque canals.

Our tour was expertly guided by Captain Gisela, whose passion for Amsterdam's history and architecture was truly infectious. Her insightful commentary painted vivid pictures of the city's past and present, weaving together tales of trade, culture, and innovation. Gisela's knowledge was matched only by her warmth and enthusiasm, making us feel not just like passengers, but welcomed guests on her personal voyage through Amsterdam's waterways.

The boat itself was comfortable and well-maintained, offering unobstructed views of the iconic canal houses, charming bridges, and bustling waterfronts. The tour route was thoughtfully planned, ensuring we covered both famous landmarks and hidden gems that we wouldn't have discovered on foot.

What stood out most about Captain Jack Boat Tours was their commitment to delivering an intimate and personalized experience. Despite being a group tour, Gisela took the time to engage with each guest, answering questions and sharing insider tips that enriched our understanding of Amsterdam's rich heritage.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, Captain Jack Boat Tours with Captain Gisela at the helm is an absolute must-do in Amsterdam. It's an experience that not only showcases the city's beauty but also leaves you with a deeper appreciation for its cultural tapestry. I can't recommend it highly enough—five...

A Delightful 90 Minutes on the Water with Captain Jack

My family and I recently took the 1.5 hour boat tour with Captain Jack, and I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our trip!

Our guide Bryce was absolutely fantastic - knowledgeable, funny, and full of interesting stories about the city and its buildings. He had this wonderful way of mixing historical facts with humorous anecdotes that kept everyone engaged the entire time.

The hospitality on board was exceptional. They offered unlimited drinks (juice, beer, wine, and more) throughout the journey, and the freshly made waffles were a delicious treat! The best part was that everything was unlimited, so we could truly relax and enjoy ourselves without worrying about extra costs.

What really stood out to me was how accommodating they were with our baby. Traveling with an infant can be stressful, but the Captain Jack team went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable. Their thoughtfulness made a huge difference in our experience.

The 90-minute tour was the perfect length - enough time to see plenty of sights and learn about the area without getting restless. The boat was well-maintained and offered great views from every seat.

If you're looking for a tour that combines sightseeing, entertainment, and wonderful hospitality, I highly recommend Captain Jack. It's perfect for families (even with small children), couples, or anyone wanting to see the city from a different perspective. This wasn't just a boat ride - it was a memorable experience that we'll be talking about for...

A Charming Cruise with Captain Jack's My recent 90-minute all-inclusive canal cruise with Captain Jack's on May 7th was an absolute highlight of my Amsterdam trip. Departing from the Rijksmuseum dock for the 4:00 PM cruise on a beautiful afternoon, the experience was nothing short of wonderful. Our guide and captain, Lucas, was truly charming and informative. He effortlessly shared interesting facts about the city and its iconic canals, making the journey scenic and engaging. The selection of Dutch bites offered a lovely taste of local flavors, including the classic combination of Gouda and Edam cheese with crackers, the sweet delight of a Stroopwafel, and even a taste of the quintessential Dutch black licorice. The hard-wrapped coffee candies were the iconic Rademaker Hopjes, with their distinct coffee and caramel notes, adding a touch of traditional Dutch sweetness. We also enjoyed the delightful Dutch Windmill Spiced Cookies. To top it off, the chilled wine was particularly delicious, and for those preferring other options, Heineken beer was also readily available – perfect refreshments on a lovely day. The boat was cute and surprisingly comfortable, providing an intimate and enjoyable setting for taking in the stunning views. Captain Jack's offers a fantastic way to experience the beauty of Amsterdam from a unique perspective, and with Lucas at the helm and such tasty local treats, it's an experience I wholeheartedly recommend.

Our group of 6 had a wonderful time on the Captain Jack trip guided by pilot Pieter. We took the 6pm trip, which had ample wine, beer, soda, water and finger foods (meat sticks, crackers, cookies, cheeses, candies) so that no one left the 1 hour and 15 minute trip wanting because of thirst or hunger. Pieter knew the canals like you know your own neighborhood. He both guided the small boat (25-30 passenger maximum) through the canals skillfully and with our safety in mind. He was a very personable character and answered all the questions our group of people from all over the world (but, the majority, by random luck, were from the USA). He took us through a large number of canals and the Amstel river and told us the history and cultural insights to the area. He made sure we had photo opportunities (gave passengers a heads up to the good ones) and had the opportunity to just enjoy the trip. This is a more intimate trip - you are not on a large vessel listening to an audio guide tape. I would not identity this as a "booze cruise" - there are drinks for those that want alcohol (beer and wine) and then drinks for those who don't want to imbibe and kids. Should you want to see the canals and have a fun time with fewer passengers and be guided by an experienced local - go with the Captain Jack Amsterdam Canal Cruise and try to get on the boat with Pieter as your pilot.
