I was desperate for a pizza, (I hadn't had a pizza in at least two months)

While I did not dine in, the decor and design was a modern twist on an classic Italian, with a neon sign for instance.

31 dollars, In my opinion is quite pricey for a pizza so I was sceptical it would justify the price.

While it was very good, it didn't quite justify the price for me.

The tomato sauce was lacking in flavour in my opinion, not any rich, tangy flavours, nothing really too special.

The mozzarella, while not bad quality, was exactly like the tomato in the sense of being good quality but not being that bit better.

The "Rocket" supposed to be on the pizza was more a salad mix rather than just rocket, not really adding that peppery, fresh kick that just having rocket would.

Where the pizza picks up in it's points is the stone baked base (a stone baked pizza always is a big pro for me.)

The whole pizza was charred just enough, the crust being not too doughy with just a slight crisp to it.

The balsamic glaze paired particularly well with the parma ham, the sweet tang complementing with the rich, salty ham perfectly.

Would I come here again?

Yes, but I would pick...

I’m always excited to find pizzerias certified "Vera Pizza Napoletana” by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana because they’re guaranteed to be making authentic Neapolitan pizza, which usually tastes amazing. The pizza at this place is better than most in New Zealand, but it is consistently mediocre compared to all the other Napoletana certified pizzas I’ve tried in Auckland, Australia, various US states, and several of the famous original pizzerias in Naples, Italy.

Here, the crust is the wrong texture— soggy, overly chewy, and somehow missing the usual outer crispness despite having the proper amount of char. And the meat and cheese toppings just don’t have that quality, authentic Italian taste. Admittedly, real Italian meats and cheeses are hard to get in New Zealand, but I have eaten them in other NZ restaurants, so it isn’t impossible. I’m disappointed every time I eat here, so this is my reminder to myself that there is much better Neapolitan pizza in Wellington, even if it...

Excellent and delicious 🤤 pizza ! I have been supporting their business for the past 3 years by eating pizza 2 times per week! If you like a thin crust pizza , this is your place! Don’t go any further! I literally ate every single pizza from their menu. That includes their specials when they had it. I have several of my favorites, but three the most ordered are Parma, Bufalino, and Marinara. Gorgeous crispy crust ! Always hot ! Even if you take it to go ! These guys are amazing! They are so efficient with orders! If I would be a poet, I would probably have written a poem to that pizza place. Because I am not a writer, I am keep eating their delicious pizza. I highly recommend you to try if you haven’t already! There is no better pizza than pizza pomodoro! Thank you for being there for all your loyal customers and running your business! I am pretty sure that my face has been in their little pizzeria too many times. Can’t help it ! The best pizza ever ! Thank you...

Wellington’s pickiest pizza fan from NYC here: This is the best pizza in the city that I’ve found so far. The winning ingredient is the crust which rivals NYC’s best. It’s soft, chewy and charred just right. It’s a little to thin to support the more ambitious pies with lots of heavy ingredients on them, but you just scoop the stuff up and eat it anyway. Be warned, though, as Pizza Pomodoro only has a couple tiny tables that are really only suited for two people each. I somehow squished my family of four at one of the tables as the fellas at the next table gave us their spare stool, but it’s tight. This is really a good take-away place, so if you plan accordingly you’ll likely have a better experience (bringing it home). 🍕
