Hidden gem in the Lambton Quay precinct. There are some places that you go back to and you just want to dig in and explore a menu and that’s what we’re doing at The Long Bar. Highly recommend. Good website and can order on Uber!! Handy!!

Dine in. Staff friendly. Is becoming a regular once a week haunt for EelmanRecords crew. Owner of business (Say hi to Jean, passionate about her business) and staff are very welcoming.

Food IS AWESOME!!!! No MSG!!! All flavourings prepared onsite!! Authentic. Atmosphere relaxed. Not too noisy.

14/5/25. Kapitan Beef this evening. Hot and Spicy. Wow!!!!!! ❤️💥 Fresh and dry chillies, lemon grass, tumeric, and other Malaysian spices. Have not tried this dish before. Go slowly and enjoy the flavours suggest a side of rice.

Also recommend the non alcoholic drink VIDA. MALAYSIA'S No.1 (ZERO calories | sugar | colouring sparkling drink.) it’s a tangy, drink and a really good substitute as it has a subtle bite on the palette to it. Try the ‘Original Citrus’. (There’s plenty of good alcoholic wines and beer available.)

9/4/25. Pleasant evening. Nice to hear Mandarin being spoken from a table nearby. Tried the Mee Goreng. Noodles with chicken, beef, eggs, cabbage, carrot, onions, potato pieces and bean sprouts. Authentic and tasty. Spicy enough. Might dial a bit higher :-) next time.

26/3/25. Tonight, tried the Kampong Fried Rice Malaysian Village style fried rice with chicken, sambal, vegetable. anchovies and cover with a fried egg. (Hot) Hit the spot. If you like it hot! Just ask.

19/3/25. Recently tried the Curry Laksa:-) Very tasty and authentic.

12/3/25. Recommend the Traditional Beef Nasi Lemak. It’s the ‘real deal’. Tasty!! Lamb Curry...

Absolutely flawless, perfect 5 stars!

Despite arriving quite late, around 8 pm, I was greeted warmly by the staff, all with genuine smiles. The restaurant's atmosphere was cozy and spotlessly clean, with plenty of seating available. The menu was impressively extensive, and the staff graciously guided me through the options with clear explanations.

Opting for (Hainanese) chicken rice, I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived promptly in just 5 minutes. The presentation was stunning, and the taste surpassed all expectations. The chicken was juicy and bursting with flavour, complemented perfectly by the fresh and crispy fried onions, freshest sliced cucumber and the subtly tangy soy-based sauce. The homemade chili sauce was also very authentic and a delightful touch. The accompanying chicken soup was also delicious and showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients. At $22, the meal was not only delicious but also amazingly good value.

Both the attentive waitstaff and the friendly chef made me feel incredibly welcome, leaving me eager to return. With so many enticing dishes left to try, I'm already looking forward to...
