Service is with a smile, yet food is a disappointment. Soup and "toasty" barely worthy of the prefix "chicken" as one piece of meat in both classifies them as such but is a disappointment to a humble diner looking to leave with a satisfied belly. I am perturbed to say the least that I was asked to pay $19.50 for a slither of chicken between two pieces of dry bread. My recommendation is to avoid this restaurant unless you are looking to entertain the ruse wealth to a first date or if you are in the top 2% of NZ earners. However, they are advertised as "Gourmet" and I suppose the goal is to make you eat things you don't want to eat and pay extortionately for it. PS: dress code is a wide brim hat, knitted sweater and tobacco pipe (for the look, under no such circumstances should it be lit). Raybans are unacceptable, far too mainstream, same goes for aviators - underground brands that are Rayban knock offs...
Read moreWe weren't happy at all. We came here for a breakfast between checking out of a motel and waiting for shops to open. To start with the lady was very helpful showing partner how to join up for loyalty points...but during the process realized we didn't have Robert Harris in our area. We ordered breakfast and coffee came out quick but after 30 minutes no breakfast. We enquired and it took one person so long out the back another customer even asked another staff member! It turned out they gave our order to someone else. They were apologetic but gave us coffee card to be used there. Totally useless as we were passing through which they knew and already had coffee while waiting for breakfast. We passed it on tho to some other people. I wouldn't recommend the service at all, food was nice but really other cafes manage both good service, great food and a sincere apology if they make a mistake. Give this one...
Read moreWhile the coffee at this establishment was well within the realms of acceptability, the food left much to be desired. My comrades and i were somewhat underwhelmed by the chicken and vegetable soup and the chicken "toasties". Firstly the soup. The quantity i received was a shade intimidating. A meal which is traditionally a snack or appetizer came in a bowl roughly the size of a medium sized toddler's head. The chicken content was sadly lacking, especially when compared to the considerable overabundance of vegetables. I recommend a more simple and less pretentious recipe for future dishes.
The so called "chicken" toasties were another disappointment. The two slivers of chicken were entirely overshadowed by a veritable swamp of mushrooms and sandwiched between two pieces of dry pizza crust. Certainly not worth the almost twenty dollars we...
