Tailor Made Tekapo Accommodation - Guesthouse & Hostel — Attraction in South Island

This is a wonderful place to stay at Lake Tekapo that has combination of both hostel and hotel settings. Just make sure you have your own Internet because it’s almost non-existent here. This place is just a 5 min downhill walk from the center of Lake Tekapo. If you are staying in a shared facility, cleanliness of common areas will depend a lot on yourself and other guest you are sharing with. We had absolutely no problem as everyone was clean and respectful. Highly recommend this place for a comfortable stay, only issue is lack of WiFi. Below is a detailed review of this property. ||Rooms: We booked a private room, which was small and cozy. The bed was Queen size, but soft and comfy. No closet space just a few hanging space. A heater and a couple of shelves. ||Bathrooms: Our lodge had 4 Rooms and shared two toilets and two shower spaces. A bit of a wait in the mornings and evenings, but nothing too bad. ||Common Facilities: The kitchen, dining room area, and Lounge are very clean and well stocked. They have two large refrigerators, two toasters, one microwave, one cooking stove, and two wash basins. Also internet was available only there. They also have a laundry facility that is very reasonably priced. They also have access to tennis courts and also provide balls and tennis rackets for playing. ||Animals: They have a few chickens, a couple of big bunnies, and two cute little Guinea pigs at the location. You can feed the animals but can’t pet them. ||Parking: They have a few parking spots available on-site, but it’s mostly street parking which is not too difficult to find around this residential block. ||Location: This place is a maximum of 6 minute walk to the Lake Tekapo business center, where all restaurants, shops, and the actual lake is located. If you drive it’s less than a minute away. However it’s still far away from the highway that you don’t hear traffic noise. Kitchen is clean, tidy and equipped. We stayed in the Trio room. The room itself is comfortable and comes with blanket and heater. Carpet looks like it's relatively new. There was no reception on site. Keys were left on a counter for people to pick up.

The only reason for the low star was no hot shower available and disappointed because there was no reply from the accommodation manager. Tried many times over a few hours and there was no hot water coming out. On a freezing cold night and especially when it's the time of the month for ladies, a cold shower is the last thing you want. Contacted the accommodation through email and message and there was no reply at all. Would have given a one star, but everything else was comfortable.

Accommodation is highly recommended especially at the price it's at, but I'd presume that generally hot water for showe would be included in the cost as well. And in the shower, there was also no hair and body wash pump bottle though in the email it said those were provided. Will recommend to anyone who's on a tight budget and not fussed with no one to contact in case...
