The redesign of the Auckland fish market is fresh, hip and definitely a place I would want to come back. Currently my fave place to get fish and chips (that tartare sauce is addictively good...) but I’ve definitely had better salt and pepper squid though it wasn’t bad. Not a fan of oysters myself... but my partner in calorie crimes definitely loved them enough to eat a dozen in one sitting 🙊 Plenty of seats though limited ones with shading outside. Fish market also offers an hour free parking but make sure you still get a ticket or do through AT park. Not the cheapest of places to eat. Our lunch for two with drinks set us back $80+ but for fresh seafood that can’t be too bad, right?

Came for a walk in the viaduct to get some fnc for lunch there was a takeaway small booth at AFM beside the parking it was my first time visiting as shown in the photo it says eat at the source so I do have a bit of high expectations to the food fnc was not in the menu but the lady mentioned they could do it so got some whitebait bap and fnc the bread for the whitebait is not even toasted the whitebait was cold the chips was crunchy the fish didn't taste fresh the breading wasn't something I would personally prefer it was underwhelming maybe because of the lockdown I might come when they fully open and try again.

I absolutely love this place. The choice of fresh fish is overwhelming and if you buy them untrimmed (around the corner from the processed ones) they even clean them for you. If you're lucky you can get yourself beautiful fresh or smoked fish 20-40% discounted. Imagine the restaurant quality pate or fish soup you can dish up for a bargain price. If you have little ones take them and after the viewing of fishes, crabs and molluscs take them to the water features oppo2the carpark or playground 3 steps east and spend a day on the good side of town

Big upgrade from the old fish market which was previously runned down. Glad to see they've spent the effort and money to revitalize the fish market! Its still under some renovations and not all leased shops are full yet, however what ive seen so far is quite promising! If this keeps up, I will definitely bring future work/friend visitors for dinner sometime. It would be something new for visitors to check out, while also being alongside the harbourfront. Will be back AKL fish market to check your ongoing reno process!

Despite the market being exceptionally clean and offering an amusing display of freshly caught fish, there really isn't much to see or do here. Some stalls are closed on weekends, and the remaining ones sell food at crazy high prices, almost similar to that in fine-dining establishments. I would only recommend this fish market to those who want to see fresh fish being sold, or are willing to trade the luxuries of indoor dining with constantly being harassed by seagulls while paying the same amount of money.

To be fair I shop only for the fresh fish & shellfish At Sandfords where I buy primarily because it's fresh and a good selection. The prepared food at other outlets was Found to be ordinary and expensive. Staff are friendly and helpful at Sanfords. Parking is limited but if you find the Fish customer section of the carpark There is 1 hour free parking. You still Need to register your car on the parking meter. This is the largest car park not The smaller one right next to the market
