Plaoshnik is known as a religious site since the beginning of Christianity, and probably before. There are found several major early Christian basilicas, and the remains of the church of St. Panteleimon. The church was built by St. Clement in 893 year on the foundation of the early Christian basilica, and dedicated to St. Panteleimon. It was here where the Ohrid Literary School, a center of Slavonic literary and cultural activity, was found and were educated more than 3,500 disciples. St. Clement was buried in this monastery, in the tomb which was built by his hands. Church of St. Panteleimon was revised several times until the 15th century, when was converted by the Ottoman Turks into a mosque, known as the Imaret Mosque, of which only a small enclosure remains. While if offers an interesting view to a couple of interesting sites - a church, tombs, a basilica, the access to it is not the best experience you can get. In the summer of 2017 the road that leads to the site is still under construction and everything is very dusty. Additionally, the Roman mosaics that are on display have been exhibited in a way that potentially would not preserve them for a long time.
