It's an amazing place and living history. Every macedonian and foreign visitor should stop by this workshop. They make paper in the old ways using the Gutenberg press from the 15th century. According to the owner, there are only three of them like it in Europe. One is in Germany, where it originated from, of course, and the other two are in Slovenia and in Ohrid, Macedonia. The entrance is free, they make the paper in front of you also for free, so you lose nothing but your time and get so much in return. The owner is very friendly. It was an amazing experience to see papar being made in real time. Any lover of culture should visit. The prices for the paper are reasonable for a piece of history and worth it. Update two years later. Still a beautiful place to visit, the business is going strong even after 170 years since it first started. The owner is really friendly and kind and great to listen to explain the process of paper making and printing on it using the Gutenberg printing press. I’d suggest you buy something from the shop. This kind of cultural and historic heritage should...

Visiting the National Workshop For Handmade Paper Ljupcho Panevski was like stepping into a Harry Potter magic atmosphere. Watching the master craftsman produce paper using traditional methods was utterly enchanting. He took the time to explain the process and answered all my questions with great detail. I was so captivated that I could have spent hours observing the meticulous crafting.

The workshop also showcases a stunning variety of engraved pictures, all made authentically. These artworks would make beautiful decor elements or unique souvenirs for loved ones. Additionally, the craft paper packages made right on-site add a special touch. For artists, the handmade paper available for sale offers an exciting opportunity for creative experiments.

If you're in Ohrid, this workshop is a must-visit for sightseeing. It's a hidden gem that blends history, artistry, and a touch of magic. Perfect for anyone looking to explore the cultural heart of this...

I was there with my family. It was demonstrated to us how to make a paper and how they used to print on it. The host was very nice to us. He explained the whole procedure. Since my daughter goes to graphic school he explained the details to her. He even helped her to dress like a servant in a mediaeval printshop. At the end of the workshop you can buy a small gift, but you don't feel any pressure from the host, that you must do it. I highly recommend to visit this workshop.

Wonderful little workshop where paper is made by an old technology. You can buy prints made on this paper for three euros. There is also a replica made in the 19th century of a Gutenberg printing press. The fellow running the shop is very friendly and eager to explain things. It's a workshop and NOT a museum, seems a lot of people gave this place unreasonably low reviews. I wanted to give 100 dinars to the man becauae he was so helpful but he insisted in not taking it!
