Kaj Kanevche — Restaurant in Municipality of Ohrid

This place is totally overrated. We sat down for dinner. Few dishes, including chicken that was on the menu was not available. They said I would have to reserve three hours in advance and order the dish in order for them to prepare it. Then we picked something else in the menu that we could eat, which wasn’t our first choice, and ordered a cocktail and food. Three minutes later cocktail came, and after the first sip, we told the waiter that this was not made well, it was supposed to be a blue lagoon drink , but it contained much more syrup than alcohol, and it tasted like cough medicine. The waiter refused to replace our drink with wine, and then we decided to leave. The manager was rude, and we could not eat in such hostile atmosphere. Although it only passed three minutes since we ordered food, the manager insisted that we have to pay for the whole dinner, even if we would have left. I feel that the management wants to take advantage of tourists, especially foreigners. This was such a stressful and a uncomfortable experience. They didn’t want to let us leave without paying for the whole dinner we ordered 2 min earlier. At the end we paid for our drinks, we barely tasted and had to fight them off refusing to pay for food we ordered 2 min earlier, which we actually compromised to picking something else on the menu. There are two ways to access this absolute gem of a restaurant. The first is the Board walk or you can get a taxi boat (daytime) from town and then it's a short walk to what is an incredible eating experience. I have been a patron here for about 7 years on my annual holiday and it has never disappointed. First the view over the lake is breathtaking, basically your get the most amazing panoramic view and if you are lucky enough to get a table on the extended part you will just love every moment you are there. The food is fantastic as you walk down the steps to the entrance you are met with the most wonderful aroma which tells you what you are about to eat is well worth the visit. Staff are incredibly friendly and you are greeted and shown to your table with a warm welcome. The menu here is extensive and it's worth talking a little time to see just what is on offer, order a drink from the bar and relax in these comfatble surroundings. Small place right next to the shore with part on the lake. Ok food. Rather pricey compared to the other places we have been but still reasonable. Portions are not too big not too small just the right size. We ordered the mixed grill from the menu, claims to contain 600gr of various meat. Proved to be just enough for 2 people. The view from the place is great. However the noise from the air exhaust system of the adjacent restaurant can get quite annoying. It makes a constant hum and kind of spoils the experience. We got here on foot from the center which is quite a hike if you pick the in land way like we did. On our way back we discovered a much easier way following the shore line on a wooden platform. Just turn towards the lake side when you arrive at the church coming from the center and you should find the platform on the lake to follow.
