I visited Oslo for a week on vacation and had the pleasure of dining at Vinland Brasserie thanks to a recommendation from my friend Dona, who works there (and if you’re lucky, you might even meet her!).
From the very first moment, the visual impact was striking — it felt like stepping into a true gastronomic museum. The dining room where we were seated was both stunning and warmly inviting.
We were introduced to Sandro, who kindly guided us through the menu even though we already knew what we wanted. We chose the Tomahawk, and I must say, it was one of the best cuts of meat I have ever tasted in my life. Alongside, we enjoyed the tarte flambée and the tartare, both of which were simply outstanding.
Of course, we couldn’t resist dessert. We tried all but one of the options, and none left us indifferent — each was absolutely delicious.
A special mention must go to Kata, the sommelier. Even though I am far from a wine expert, she went above and beyond to help me find a wine that I could truly enjoy.
In short, if you ever visit Oslo and want to experience the very best of fine dining, Vinland...
Read morefirst, love the ‘60s NYC vibe. -second, the service was better than any other restaurant we’ve visited since moving to Oslo 2 years ago. It felt like we actually in Italy or America it was so good. the food. was. amazing. When their menu states “best steak in Oslo”, it should read, “Best Steak in Norway”. It is specially bred for only this restaurant and it shows. Well marbled, obviously grain-finished, tender, perfectly seasoned and butter drizzled. Incredible. -The duck was also very good as was the Demi glaze. the caviar was good but a little too fishy tasting for my wife. I would’ve liked a cracker or two as well. the best decision we made though was ordering the Frites and Mont d’Or fondue. We recommend asking for all toasted sourdough and forgo the brioche. It was a little over-toasted and still floppy and too soft to hold the cheese. But definitely dip the beef tallow fried fries into the cheese and be treated to a wonderful little slice of happiness. Drinks were great as well. Cannot compliment the staff enough for their attentiveness and accurate...

Unfortunately it only went downwards from there. During our time we were attended to by 4-5 waiters and it looked like they had way too much on their hands. We had to wait for almost an hour before our main course, the signature porterhouse, was served. However, the wine we ordered with the main dish came 30-40min before the dish itself. We think the waiters forgot us, because we had to ask where our food was. But then the food came quick.
The food itself was good, just wish the bad service didn’t ruin the whole experience, I really just expected more from...
