After feeling a bit overwhelmed by the energy at Alex Sushi, we found our way to Sabi Sushi Vika

We opted for a familiar test: soft shell crab. Alongside that, we ordered the Midori menu plus karage and gyoza. A good amount of variations that promised an exciting journey for our taste buds and for our empty stomachs as well.

While our culinary journey at Sabi Sushi was filled with flavorful moments, I must admit we had some mixed feelings about the service.

My son requested for ginger beer, only to be informed that they had run out. In an attempt to offer an alternative, they suggested regular beer (sans alcohol though) — a rather unusual substitute for ginger beer, we thought. It left us wondering if there might have been a slight communication hiccup, perhaps due to the staff's proficiency in Norwegian.

Another minor hiccup came when our first sushi platter arrived without pickled ginger and wasabi, small details but ones that sushi enthusiasts often appreciate. While not a significant setback, it was enough to make us feel that Sabi didn't quite earn a perfect score...

Food way below price. Nothing wrong, just lame :)

Unless you want overpriced takeout or just want to get out of the rain, I recommend you go elsewhere. Even a city the size of Oslo has enough sushi or Asian restaurants to ensure you get better than this chain provides.

Service was horrendous. 30 minutes from sitting down to first service at the table. The order process were less helpful than the menu.

One dish was "forgotten" and would come right up. 15 minutes later my dinner companion completed her dish. I got up and talked to the staff. My dish was not even started on. Canceled it and ask for the bill.

No hello upon arriving, random service during the stay, no apologies or corrections after their mistakes - verbally or on the bill, no thank you upon receiving payment, no goodbye...

Genki is a great place to eat lunch or dinner. At lunch time you even get to try a bento 🍱. You can choose between vegetarian and regular bento. It tastes really good. At dinner time you can get more types of good tasting food. I recommend a Gyosa for starters. Everything I have tasted there so far is unique and delicious. Genki also have a great view and you can sit inside or outside. The interior/ furnitures and similar looks good too. It feels nice and friendly with a lot of Totoro and Pikachu pillows and interesting pictures on the walls. The ones that are working there seem to speaking both Norwegian and English and most likely Japanese too. So the communication goes smoothly too. They are very friendly and good...

Visited this place for dinner and I can say I was left confused about the place. The service and ambiance is really nice and cozy for a dinner date, however I have mixed opinions about the dishes. While some were really nice and melted on bite, the others were just okay. The tampura with mango sauce was surprisingly extremely tasty, the chef’s choice (dish with different kinds of sushi ) was just okay. I personally do not like cucumber in sushi, and this dish had exactly that. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The sake recommendation was really helpful and we enjoyed the sake a lot. It also has an open kitchen where you can see what the chef’s are doing, but the taste can vary on what dish you order.

This was a very nice dinner spot. The ingredients that are used for the sushi are definitely of a higher quality, and it was quite easy to figure out what to eat with the fixed menus that they have. But apart from that they have a really wide range of different sushi and other dishes. We really enjoyed the different sushi a lot. The staff was very professional and they were open to help and give advice on what to order. Another particular thing for me was that the welcoming staff tried their best to pronounce my Chinese name and ask for corrections and that just made me feel happy. The decor is very interesting, that gave some food for conversations as well.
