Food is good, service is great. The thing I missed a little was specials. There was none. The food tastes good, but with no specials, I didn't feel like there was anything fresh going on. Fresh fish or fresh shellfish in the pasta would elevate the entire experience, and I would understand if that were only in a special. That said, the risotto I had was perfectly cooked, and well balanced.
The homemade tiramisu was beautiful, very recommended. The cannoli I had had a shell a little on the soft side, but the filling was delicious. Why get the desserts that get delivered ready made, when Gino's tiramisu tastes so delicious? If I had to criticise, I would change the glass they are served in to allow a little more space for the bottom layer, maybe a little more sponge with all that cream; that bottom was so good.
I would recommend that the drip from the air conditioner by the front right window is fixed; once every so often I would have to dry a little spot on myself :D

Read moreGot yelled by the owner in front of all the customers. I specified that I wanted a vegan dish and the waiter brought out pasta topped with Parmesan (this wasn’t on the menu). I politely said that I couldn’t eat it and the waiter took it back. The angry owner - Gino- came back yelling at me for not being more specific about being vegan. I showed him the menu and it was obvious that it wasn’t mentioned there. He was not remorseful or apologetic at all. This is not a review for the waiters- they are all lovely! Read moreVi hadde lyst til å dele en pizza og ta et kjapt glass vin etter besøk på det nye Nasjonalmuseet - vi var litt mellom lunsj og middagstid. Valentes lå på veien, så det var et enkelt valg. Halvfull restaurant med masse eldre damer møtte oss etter at vi måtte brøyte oss rydning gjennom et tungt velourgardin rett innenfor døren. Ble vist inn til den innerste, trangeste lille krok (selv med betydelig hyggeligere bord tilgjengelig), og fikk to menyer med krøllete plastark og menyutvalg fra nittitallet. Ruskete maling på vegger som trenger oppussing ble rask kommentert. Bestilte en pizza på deling med tilhørende øl og vin da servitør endelig kom. Det fikk vi kontant beskjed om at ikke vi kunne, ingen deling…..! Servitør sa han kunne spørre Gino om de fikk gjøre et unntak, og gikk - kom tilbake med negativ beskjed. Vi måtte bestille hver vår rett.
I en halvtom, litt trist restaurant ville jeg omfavnet hver eneste gjest uansett mengde mat bestilt. Kost med oss og fått oss til å føle oss verdifulle - slik at Valentes ble vår favorittrestaurant ved enhver anledning. Tenk om vi var der for å sjekke ut et kommende event der vi kunne leid hele restauranten? Eller om vi var kommentatorer fra en eller annen avis? Her bør man vurdere å freshe opp litt på lokalet, menyen og hvordan menyen presenteres, så ikke inntrykket blir så uinspirert.Velge en mer italiensk varme og kjærlighet i møte med gjestene.
