A Sea Adventure with Captain Bård and an International Crew

On Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, we set out for a fishing trip. But this wasn’t just any trip – we were headed into the Norwegian Sea on a genuine Norwegian fishing boat.

CAPTAIN BÅRD AND HIS UNMISTAKABLE PAST At the harbor, we were introduced to Captain Bård, whose grandfather had been a whaler. This man gave us a thorough set of safety instructions. Needless to say, after such an introduction, you don’t get the feeling you're dealing with a recreational hobbyist. Bård had the presence to not only ensure a safe fishing experience, but also to make you feel like you’d stepped into the heart of a historical adventure.

THE INTERNATIONAL CREW Our fellow fishermen were a lively, international bunch: English, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish – and even Chinese.

THE SPECTACULAR LANDSCAPE We left the harbor of Svolvær and entered a landscape that could have been pulled straight from a movie. It felt like we had landed on another planet. Towering green mountains (some still with snowy peaks), dazzling white beaches in the distance, and crystal-clear water that looked like something out of a swimming pool. The only thing missing was palm trees – but hey, you can’t have everything, right? We approached an enormous, dramatic cliff and even spotted sea eagles. What magnificent creatures!

THE CATCH (PART I) When it was finally time to fish, we got started in teams of two.

BELOW DECK We kept sailing, but the amazing weather meant nearly everyone stayed on deck. It was lively up there, but below deck we discovered a beautifully crafted wooden interior – perfect for the nostalgic soul.

THE CATCH (PART II) Our next stop was pure fishing heaven. Dozens of fish were caught.

THE JOURNEY BACK TO THE HARBOR As Captain Bård turned the boat back toward the harbor, the speakers filled with sea shanties like 'Drunken Sailor´ and the ´Pirates of the Caribbean´ theme. The mood was electric. The music had a kind of enchantment, and it was hard not to sway along with the rhythm of the waves. When Captain Bård handed the wheel to his assistant, he gave a demonstration of fish filleting. Those who wanted could even clean their own catch.

THE SPECTACLE WITH THE SEAGULLS And then it began: the fish were sliced open, the innards removed – and the seagulls came in droves. It was like a scene out ofThe Birds´, but with a Nordic twist. What a show! The gulls circled like predators, hoping to snatch a piece of fish.

WHAT A DAY After the trip, we returned to the harbor, where we warmly thanked Captain Bård and his crew for an unforgettable day.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Thank you, Captain Bård, for sharing your sea, your stories, and your skills with us. And to the entire crew – your hospitality, humor, and professionalism made this day one we’ll never...

Definitely the ONLY and BEST company at Lofoten to book an adventure or experience!!!! DO NOT GO to any other company as the others just want to make money with tourist without taking care of them - and, very important: the other companies are NOT Locals, they are companies and Tourguides from anywhere but not originally from Lofoten!!! The six brothers of Go2Lofoten are a LOCAL FAMILY who run their family-business since 3 years (which is reason enough to support them!) and they are doing an AMAZING job. We had a RIB-Tour with Eddy to see the Sea Eagles and Trollfjord and is was a life-changing experience! Eddy took his time and stopped several times to inform us and tell as everything(!) about the history, the landscapes, the sea-eagles, the stories behind Trollfjord and the mountains around! We could ask him whatever we want and it was not one second boring or too fast like tourist attractions often are. While the RIB-Boats of the other companies passed us several(!) times just to bring as much as possible tourists to take a short look to the Trollfjord (that's what they booked) and back, we had the gift to have Eddy and to have booked with Go2Lofoten to SEE, EXPERIENCE and FEEL everything from a LOCAL who definitely loves his job and knows best about what he is talking. 5 stars for this company is not enough. 10000% recommendation for...

I had an absolutely incredible experience with GO2 Lofoten tours and our guide Pål! The sea eagle safari to Trollfjord was nothing short of breathtaking. Pål's knowledge and passion for the area were evident throughout the entire trip. He made sure we felt safe and comfortable while immersing us in the stunning natural beauty of Lofoten.

The trip was well-organized, and the boat ride to Trollfjord was smooth and enjoyable. Pål's expertise in spotting wildlife, including the majestic sea eagles, was remarkable. Seeing these magnificent creatures up close was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The journey through Trollfjord itself was mesmerizing, surrounded by towering cliffs and crystal-clear waters. Pål shared captivating stories about the area's history and wildlife, making the experience even more engaging.

I cannot recommend GO2 Lofoten tours and Pål enough. The tour was an unforgettable adventure, and I will cherish the memories for years to come. If you're visiting Lofoten, this tour is an absolute must-do, and having Pål as your guide will make it all the more exceptional. Thank you for an...

Excellente expérience avec le sea eagle and trollfjord in rib.

September 2025 Had a great time. After getting all geared up we left the harbour and had our first eagle stop after ten minutes. The ride was smooth because the weather was great too that day with almost no wind. Next stop was the Trolfjord and again enough time for taking pictures. After a second eagle stop we returned to svolvaer and were really happy we did this trip instead of the cruise.

Today we had the experience of the sea eagle safari with go2lofoten. We have seen a lot of eagles and the skipper took his time with us, and gave a lot of information about the sea eagles and over the area. We would recommend to book with go2lofoten. If we come back in the future, we will certainly book with them again!
