Free and there are English translations too (although they are on a light grey colour and some are not at eye level at all). Small place that took less than 1 hour. Some overlap / briefer content with the Panama Canal Museum such as the French canal section and the strive for independence at Canal Zone etc. Overall, I would recommend the Panama Canal Museum more (more detailed, take 2 hours, but also with entrance fees), while this museum can be a good supplement if you have time to spare since it's just next door and is free too!

Exhibits are tired and descriptive signs are faded and difficult to read. Few are in English so Google Translate is necessary. There is an error on the "Wisconsin Treaty". The ship picture is not the battleship but a merchant ship by the same name.

It's a very small museum in the independence Square, which shows a brief history of Panama. The entrance is free, but in the main hall, there are very few explanations in English. It's a good place to see just for a short while.

I should’ve listened to the locals. Museum is ok. Only a few sections of two floors and it seemed cramped. A lot of construction going on. The audio tour doesn’t have headsets so you are playing a recording that everyone can hear. Also the gift shop didn’t have a good selection and the cashier was rude to everyone. I planned to buy a t-shirt and a book but opted to purchase one from a street vendor. No one deserves to be treated rudely. Save your money for the actual...

There is not a lot to see here, but what there is is interesting. Some demographic information is collected, but it is free. Mostly about the history of Panama's independence, the ethnic makeup of Panamanians, and the process of the canal zone being turned over to Panama.

There are bathrooms, but...it's a little adventurous. The men's side had no lights, so you don't really want to...
