I don't have enough superlatives to describe how fantastic this trip is. The boat ride itself is an exhilarating experience, but Francisco's expert knowledge meant we got to see 3 pods of dolphins. On the river we saw a nursery pod of dolphins & a sole dolphin whose 2 month old baby was not present, with the sad implications of that evident. After watching the river dolphins for some time we then headed out to the ocean. Once out on the ocean Francisco located a small pod (of around 8) young dolphins who were hunting for food. We got extremely close to the pod, with them swimming alongside & under the boat in close proximity, seemingly enjoying our presence. Observing the behaviour of this pod ot dolphins was very exciting. We spent a considerable amount of time observing these dolphins before starting to head back, but we then encountered yet another pod of dolphins on the return journey who we stopped to observe. During the trip Francisco educated us on the distinguishing features or dolphins & how to differentiate between different species of dolphins, which was very interesting. During the ocean portion of our trip we did not see any other boats around us which gave the trip a personalised feel & the way the boat was driven minimised any potential disturbance to the dolphins. Also, because of the seating arrangement everyone got to see the dolphins up close. Once back at the river Francisco took us close to the Belem tower & the Monument to the Discoveries & imparted a lot of information about both. If we were in Lisbon for longer everyone in my party agreed that we would rebook the tour for as many times as we could because the experience was...
Read moreOur guide Francisco is a real and authentic marine biologist who is so passionate about all (marine) wildlife. He was so well prepared and ready to share his knowledge with us. I learnt a lot new facts on dolphins, whales and the sights around the Tejo river. We boarded the new, shiny rib and got to see these amazing group of dolphins (with babies!) only minutes after leaving the docks! The whole time we were watching the dolphins, Francisco did everything he could for us to get the best views while also treating the animals with due respect, not chasing after them or frightening them. After the last dolphins left well on their way, Francisco taught us more things about the dolphins we just saw. Afterwards we went on our private Sightseeing Trip right on the boat, with explanations by the friendly and humorous Francisco. This trip was so much more than I had expected, and so well executed. Big compliment!
The whole tour was held in English, and we had a small group of 6 on the boat. So no overcrowded dolphin chase but rather an intimate encounter with these majestic creatures.
I really, really recommend this trip to anyone!

Read moreThe dolphin tour is not cheap, but worth ever Euro. The preparation with the briefing in a luxurious lounge room was excellent. They teach you about different dolphin and bird species via big monitor on the wall. Later, you receive sophisticated life jackets and you onboard the speedboat. The speed of the boat is fun itself. Especially, when you jump over the waves. It is good that they take their code of conduct very seriously. So, they stay 20 to 30 minutes at the dolphin group and they take care, not to chase them with the boat. Nevertheless, we were able to come close to them and to see everything want we expected. The tour guiding was very professional. She had a scientific biology background and was eger to answer all our questions. At the last part of the tour, we drove along the coast line back to the marina underneath the bridge. To sum it up, I experienced a fantastic tour and I can recommend it to everyone, who knows what the term...
