I booked this hotel like many others from reviews I had read and found it to be a little gem.||It is so convenient to the grotto and services just out the front door and across the road and||You are there. The rooms are clean comfortable and very spacious. The breakfast is continental style but delicious and more than you could possibly eat and just like being at home.||But what really makes the hotel special is the friendly welcome from reception and assistance||With anything your require. On the morning of our departure the gentleman on reception ||Jorge was so efficient ensuring that everyone was looked after for breakfast, also checking people||Out and was so helpful and nice. I would highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Fatima ||And was such good value. It's sister hotel up the road is also to be recommend for evening meal||We went for the buffet for around €16 and was great value. One word of caution re Fatima and indeed Portugal in general and something I experienced for the first time this year is to beware of||Fares being charged by taxis. I had bad experiences in Quarteria, Fatima and Lisbon in this regard. Check out what the going rate for your trip is with your hotel and don't pay them roughly anymore than that. We had a taxi in Lisbon demand €15 for what was a €5 trip, needless to say he did not get it ...we also had a taxi driver in Fatima request €7.7O for journey from hotel to bus station a journey that cost €5 on our way in. However this is no reflection on this hotel which as it...
Read moreThis hotel is right next to the Fatima Shrine. It's a stone's throw away from the Holy Trinity Chapel. It's relatively new, considering that there's a niche for a refrigerator, but no refrigerator yet. We were there Oct. 12 and 13 and we saw new furniture delivered on the 13th. I like it for it's convenience and the food is not bad. This hotel is walking distance to a Pingo Dolce (grocery) if you need to buy salad to supplement your meals, as well as water to drink. The hotel offers wine and water for a fee if you don't want to look for Pingo. It is also within walking distance to the Stations of the Cross as well as the houses of the three visionaries. This is a long walk so one can take the minitrain for 2.50€ if one does not feel like walking. There are handcrafted items for sale at the village of the three children. The prices are very reasonable. The workmanship of the poncho and tablecloth that I bought was impressive. If you are lucky you can meet St. Lucia's cousin, Maria de...
Read moreThe four of us had a very nice stay at the Cruz Alta. The front desk staff Debora, Samuel and Jorge were very helpful, polite, with a pleasant personality. It was nice to be greeted by their smiling faces. Jorge had a lot of knowledge of all the important places to visit and gave us some very valuable information. The Hotel was very clean and well lit. The best part was the close proximity to the Basilica - just a few minutes away. The inclusive breakfast was substantial which was good value for the money. We will definitely come back and would recommend this chain of hotels to our friends. The only negative was that there was no mini fridge in the room at the Cruz Alta but I've learned since that their other hotels are equipped with it. All in all it was a...
