An important historical industrial building named Cukrarna, because originally it was a sugar refining facility. "Cuker" was an old folk word for sugar, derived from German word "zucker". Built in the years 1828-1834, the fire in 1885 destroyed most of the factoring equipment and in the years later the building had multiple owners and served for multiple purposes. Slovenian students learn of it because multiple famous poets - Murn, Kette, Cankar, Župančič - found a refuge here at the end of 19th century and worked together as a basis of Slovenian modernism. The insides are a great play with keeping the parts of the older look and modern industrial feel. The main exhibition area is supposed to represent the separate reality. The cube like construction seems it is floating inside the main building, 4 levels of different shaped floors makes it a unique place for exhibitions and allows artist to express themselves as they like. Would like to see, for instance, a dialogue with the triple height ceiling, which at the moment seems just an Instagramable whim and a loss of area.
