Ljubljanica Sluice Gate — Local services in Upravna Enota Ljubljana

If you are visiting Ljubljana and it's attractions like the Triple Bridge, go a kilometer east of there and explore this river gate. It was designed by Slovenian most famous architect Jože Plečnik, hence the instead of "Ljubljanica Sluice Gate" the name "Plečnikova zapornica" is often used. It was build during the war in between the years 1940 and 1943, the war being a reason for a long construction time. It was supposed to be a footbridge as well, along it's primary meaning - a farewall from Ljubljanica, it living the city (which, nowadays, is far to the east and Ljubljanica still has a long way to go). You can relax on the banks of the river and take a look at Cukrarna. The north bank from here and to the east is mostly medical facilities. It's really nice view to Ljubljanica river. It's better to not approach the place by boat :) or if you came with it stop in front of the gate :) The height difference between the west and east sides is about 3-4 meters. First we thought, possible to go up to the top of the gate, but unfortunately not possible, it's locked. We understand why, it can be dangerous.
