KFC Gatemax — Restaurant in KwaZulu-Natal

I visited this KFC a few years ago and went a few times and was disappointed with their service and quality of food. So I stopped going. Then a year or so ago I started going back there because everyone was saying how good it was and I thought ok maybe there's a change in management. So I visited and to my surprise it was exceptionally good. That standard unfortunately was only maintained for a couple of months and they went back to square one. Today my wife and I visited the drive through and bought zinger burgers. My wife noticed towards the end of her burger that there was some sort of mouldy substance in the fillet. A short while after that we all became terribly ill. I returned to the KFC to present the evidence but was only apologised to and offered to make a new burger. The so called "manager" there said that it was not mould and it was burnt because of the rack that they used. So it mysteriously missed the batter of the fillet and burnt the very inside of the fillet?

I have already logged a formal complaint on the website and will be taking further action. This is extremely unacceptable. I can attest to the one comment of staff not using gloves because I have noticed this myself as...

I am absolutely shocked at the poor quality of the meal i received after purchasing at KFC GateMax in Umhlanga, Coastlands today (30/05/2025) at approx 12:50. The drive through was quick and when i got to the ''collect'' my food - it was ready and given to me - within less than 1 minute. I ordered, a sweet chilli box crunch master meal, small pops which was distasteful and hard like ROCK, mash & GRAVY (basically only received thick mash, barely any gravy). After a few distasteful awful bites i had to throw the entire meal away!! The crunch master WAS NOT COOKED! Still frozen, hard, oily and COLD and looked like it was just taken out of a freezer and thrown a few seconds into the oil and then the wrap. The staff had loaded the crunch master with sweet chilli sauce to camaflouge the uncooked meal!! It's pointless giving me the food within seconds of waiting if its going to be horrible, uncooked and a waste off my money! I am glad i have taken pictures for further investigation. I would rather wait longer for a properly prepared meal than receive something inedible and cold. To mention, I feel sick after eating...

My family and I had gone through the kfc coastlands drive through yesterday just after 11am and we purchased a zinger burger meal, Colonel burger only, 2 X Street wise one meals, large mash and gravy with more mash, a sprinkle pops and a all star box meal. When we got home and began to eat, every burger was dried out as if they had made it and kept it for days and just flash fried for the order, edges of the burgers were absolutely biltong dry. We were hungry so we ate what we could and threw away the balance. During the course of the evening, my son and I began to feel sick, vomiting and diarrhea. We are now in hospital and I am 33 weeks pregnant. I am appalled, this kfc branch should be closed down and I will be contacting the national consumer counsel of SA to send through food inspectors to this branch as a friend of mine also felt sick from kfc from this branch last month. I think that because this branch is so quite, they are pre prepping food days before and just heating to make sure the drive through orders go out smoothly.
