Sadly I took guests from Khazakstan, knowing that they'd enjoy the view. Our waiter Rest, was just not into serving us. My wife and I eat out at least twice a week at great restaurants, this was our first taking guests there. The starters where okay... nothing memorable, one of the dishes we ordered was out of stock, and Rest forgot to put in our order for Salad. Sadly Guest required that we clear up our own table and so I had to get up to gather empty plates and take it to the next table. My guests ordered drinks but had to top up ourselves as the 70 percent occupied restaurant required Guest to be out of sight often. The main course was delivered and the lamb chops was eaten by my guests out of politeness as they were burnt. The Tomahawk steak I had to personally take back to the kitchen because it was not cut as requested. There was a floor manager who scurried past our table early in the evening but didn't bother checking up on us.... and I observed another manager doing the rounds but only seemed to visit certain tables.... he walked past ours too without checking and I had to call him back. I mentioned to him that early in the evening I told Guest that he was not serving us well and he should up his game. Sadly, the manager did address Guest privately but then Guest responded with "over-service" to the point of irritation. The last straw was the failure of Guest to unsure that the mains were properly sliced as requested. After taking my steak back to the kitchen the "senior manager" intervened, half apologised and promised to bring my order to the table himself.... which he didn't do... Great view... I suppose corporate visitors keeps this establishment going.. Disappointed that even after Management was informed they didn't bother checking to see if things improved. Butcher Boys can certainly hold their heads up high.... especially the...

Had an amazing experience on father's day with my daughter and son in law , until my daughter was virtually extorted for a bigger tip by a very rude waiter. (Short bald guy, didn't get his name)He refused to swipe her card and questioned her about his service and the tip. She eventually gave him more than 10% just to avoid embarrassment. He took advantage of her and was really rude because she was alone. I was unfortunately in the Gent's. Had she informed me of what transpired, he would NOT have got a tip at all. I was only informed when I got home as my daughter didn't want to ruin my father's day. I suggest you look into this, as some people have a budget for entertainment more especially during these trying times. I would have rated The Baron as five star. Really disappointed.

22-06-2021 Received a call from Blake , the owner of The Baron, a really kind gentleman. Blake identified the waiter in question and addressed the issue with him internally, and apologised profusely for the mishap that transpired on Father's Day . I really do appreciate that Blake took the time to call me personally and inform me about the steps taken to address the issue and apologised for the mishap. It's people like these that give you hope & confidence in the unstable times we live in. Wish we had more like them. I will most definately be back to The Baron Umhlanga....a definite 5 star rating.🤞🏼👌🏼Thank...

This was my second visit to the restaurant. First time I was with a big group but this time I was alone . I was quickly escorted to my table . The food and the atmosphere were good but the service can definitely be way better specially for the price you are paying for the food . My waiter took the order quickly and even recommended me a wine but once my food came , I didn’t see him till the end of my meal . I wanted to order extra sauce and sides but I couldn’t find the server . Once he cleared my plate I was hoping to have some desert but he came again and said ‘ you done’ . I politely asked if it’s okay to see the desert menu . He got me the menu but again never returned . I eventually got up and walked to the cashier to pay my bill. I even wanted to ask if they sell their sauce which is present on the table since it was really nice but I just wanted to get out at this point . I wish the service was good because it put a dent on the whole experience.

I’m not sure if it was due to restaurant being too busy . There was someone else who came and said ‘all good’ but he seemed in a rush as well , like checking the list . If you really want to check on the customers , give them a minute to reply...

Absolutely beautiful, stunning views and nice staff. We had a party of four, I ordered Grilled Kingklip (SQ) R240 my husband and I each had one, he asked for his to be "cooked well", not mine. When we got them mine was super dry, instead of sending it back and waiting another 20 min to get a new one I ate it. Now normally I'd tell my waiter right away but I was hungry. I said something to the waiter at the very end just to tell the chef not over cook both next time and next thing the manager came over to apologize which was nice then he took it off our bill... (awww) that was so nice of him. I'm sure because the fish was frozen it gets over cooked easily,(technically Frozen Kingklip shouldn't be SQ price because it's not seasonal nor is it fresh). It's a little over priced. Other than that the place was great and everyone was so nice. Would recommend giving it a try.

I had a very mixed experience about the place. It required pre-booking, and has a very lovely ocean view. You need to request for a seating by the window. From the views and pictures etc, I expected a fine dining high end restaurant but the atmosphere was very pub like... there was a lot of afterwork professionals drinking beer and chatting loudly which is fine, but not what I expected which turned me off. Also, the seats are too close for my liking, you can hear your neighbours conversations clearly. My partner liked their lamb curry. I ordered steak, 300g which I wouldn't recommend, was dry and soggy (overly dressed) at the same time. The fries looked stale. I didn't enjoy my it. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant for beers and drinks, not fine dining.

On holiday in SA and just had a good meal here as I am staying at a hotel up the road. The reviews were promising so I decided to try it out with family. However the waiter, Gugu, just needs a little more training. On several occasions she served the wrong item to the wrong person at the table, i.e drinks then sauces which I corrected. At the end of the meal, I had to wake up to ask for the bill then hunt someone down for a POS machine, Gugu then rocked up out of the shadows. Service was quick otherwise and the meals arrived perfectly on point. The manager was wandering around but should check in with customers at least once. Not a negative review, just a constructive one:) Feedback is a gift.
