Here's my experience. First impression, when my husband and arrived at the hotel where got confused and thought we were at the wrong place because the place was full of Matriculants as we later learned there's a Matric dance photoshoot happening at the Lobby. No problem with that but maybe a heads up would have been nice or something. Also the reason we thought we were lost is because there was doorman but he also didn't welcome us or anything or to at least show us where the reception is. He was just standing there enjoying the show as the matriculants came in with the nice car. We understood but then nothing changed the next days with a different doorman, the reception was still the same. They just go about their day standing there. No warm welcome or anything. The Hotel lobby looked smaller than it did on pictures which is something I cannot fault them on, If anything I commend their photographer. The welcome at the reception was okay I guess. The room was also fine, also looked bigger in photos but It was nice and well kept. The service not so great, I requested an Iron and Ironing board and was told someone will bring it to our room, after waiting almost 15 minutes if not more I had to call again to ask if the stuff is still coming and only then did we receive them after a few minutes. The remote also, we had to call to find out how to switch on the TV as it does not use the on/off button to do so. When we finally had it on, It wasn't a smart tv, they only had DSTV and boring channel in this day and age. I am not saying they should give us Netflix and the likes, but at least give us the option to be able to use our log-in details and be able to watch what we like.
Then it became a bit warm in the room, again we had to call room service to ask how to turn on the aircon as the remote in our room wasn't working, we were told someone was going to come and I think this was around 9/10 at night so you can imagine your in your pj's sleeping with your spouse and some random person is just going to come in to switch on the aircon. Luckily they never came and I didn't even bother to call again especially because my husband was sleeping.
Now this was the final straw, everything else I was like well you know what, it's okay and then this happened. So I happen to forget my Laptop charger in the room when we checked out. look I understand that they are to liable/responsible for any loss as I was told a couple of time when I called to ask them to check with the cleaning team if they had not seen my laptop charger. They told us that the team was off and they will check with them the following day, but it is not their responsibility to courier items left behind or anything and we understood, my husband had even made arrangements with a friend of his who lives in the area go collect the charger when found. when we called the next day we were told that the cleaning team did not find anything in the room. So I guess my charger grew legs and walked or flew out of the hotel.
And that was...
Read moreI recently stayed at what can only be described as one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I had the unfortunate experience of staying at this hotel, and the level of unprofessionalism and rudeness from the staff was absolutely appalling. From the moment I arrived, I was met with a cold, uninterested reception staff member who barely acknowledged me when I checked in. The dining room staff was shockingly rude and unaccommadating. When I asked for a simple request of a cup of coffee, I was met with an eye-roll and an audible sigh as though I was inconveniencing them. I stayed in what was supposed to be a "Premium Executive King Room" at this hotel, priced at R2204 per night, and it was a nightmare. From the moment I walked into the room, it was clear that this room had not been maintained or cleaned to any acceptable standard. There was a strong, unpleasant odor coming from the sheets and pillowcases. It smelled like it had not been properly laundered in weeks. The air conditioning system was not functional, so I had to call front desk to ask for assistance but that took forever. There were hairs on the bathroom floor and the shower had soap scum and grime buildup in the corners. The room furniture was tattered and in a poor condition. This was supposed to be a "premium executive" room, but it felt more like a cheap, neglected motel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly not return. It was an incredibly disappointing experience and I left feeling completely dissatisfied. Be aware that this hotel is non- refundable, so you won't get your money back even if you cancel. The photos on the website are highly misleading. What you see online is nothing like the actual hotel. Avoid this place to save your...
Read moreTonight, I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Premier Hotel in Umhlanga. After making a reservation online, I arrived only to be told that the reservation had been held but no room was available. Instead of resolving the situation promptly, we were made to wait for about an hour, only to be informed that no room could be found, and we had to seek accommodation elsewhere—without any sense of remorse or apology from the staff.
Adding to the frustration, after leaving the hotel about 20–30 minutes later, I received a call stating that I had left my driver’s license behind. This was particularly upsetting because I had stood in front of the staff, waiting for them to finish a phone call, and had clearly informed them that I was leaving. So I’m wondering why they didn’t return my license then? The phone call came with zero sense of apology or a proper solution, which made it worse.
This wasn’t my first disappointing experience with Premier Hotel. During a previous stay, housekeeping walked into my room while I was getting dressed and carried on as if it didn’t matter. The night staff had also been indifferent to the service they provided, and reception failed to answer our calls when we needed assistance. I reported these incidents to management, but no action was taken. To experience such poor service again, and from the same staff, was truly disheartening.
While the hotel itself is beautiful, the service is shockingly bad. Unfortunately, this repeated lack of professionalism and basic customer care has made my stays there both uncomfortable and stressful. Premier Hotel in Umhlanga was one of my most memorable hotels, but after this, I honestly don’t think I’ll ever set...
