There isn't much left however it is interesting to read the history and imagine. Looking down the well was so interesting. Excellent views of the city and the cathedral. A nice walkway set up throughout for an organized visit with lots of signage to explain each area. The visit is free! We drove and there is plenty of parking. For people not on crutches, it is a close walk, with a climb albeit. If you visit the old wall ot is at the top of the stairs. Exiting the Castillo about 100m to the left on the other side of the road is a mirador with perhaps a better view of the cathedral. Definitely worth the visit to understand the history of the city...

Ho trovato l'ufficio per il pagamento del biglietto chiuso, come chiuso era il castello. Mi spiace essere entrato comunque ma non potevo esimermi da questa visita che aspettavo da tempo. Ovviamente alla prima occasione sarò ben felice di assolvere al mio debito.

Il castello di Burgos, dal nome del paesetto che gli vive accucciato ai piedi, è il più ricco di storia e quello più saturo di ricordi, molti dei quali dolorosi. Molte antiche leggende aleggiano intorno a questo castello. La costruzione risale agli anni 1127-1129 e la si attribuisce al giudice Gonario di Torres. Il castello sorge su una rupe di granito completamente isolata, inaccessibile a nord e a est, per la natura del luogo e di difficile accesso anche dalle altre parti. Occupava una vista area, era circondato da una triplice cinta di mura, delle quali si possono osservare gli avanzi, costruite con blocchi di granito e mattoni rivestite pure di mattoni, resi aderenti con la malta. Al centro della vasta corte si eleva, quadrata e massiccia , la grande torre; questa al contrario delle mura, è costruita da soli mattoni, ma all'esterno, è interamente rivestita di lastre di granito ben lavorate, il tutto legato con foltissima malta. Vi è pure ancora in ottimo stato, una grande cisterna , costruita per raccogliere le acque che dovevano servire per gli usi casalinghi e per le bestie. Della sua storia più recente si sa che nel 1516 il castello è definito in buono stato, mentre nel 1901 se ne parla come di un rudere. Al centro del paese, in una casa padronale della fine dell'Ottocento, articolata su tre piani, è ospitato il Museo dei Castelli di Sardegna, che accoglie mostre temporanee sul tema dei castelli ed espone carte tematiche con le torri costiere di età spagnola ed una ricostruzione della vita contadina. Sono inoltre presenti una mostra di foto antiche e recenti che hanno per soggetto i castelli e una sala multimediale che permette una lettura storica dei circa cento castelli...
