We had lunch at El Cuenca Dorado in Burgos, and it was an enjoyable meal overall. As someone who has reviewed ramen extensively and visited numerous ramen restaurants worldwide, I must say this place does not rank among the best I’ve experienced.
We chose the house lunch menu, which included a starter, a main course, a dessert, and a drink for €14.50. For starters, we had the gyoza and shrimp tempura. Both were decent, with the gyoza standing out as particularly nice.
For the mains, we tried the ramen and the yakisoba. The ramen had an average broth, noodles, and meat—nothing exceptional. My wife’s yakisoba was also just average; the chicken was fine, but not outstanding.
For dessert, we had the mochi, which was somewhat unusual. The filling had a mousse-like texture, and the outer layer was different from traditional mochi. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t quite what we were expecting, as we were hoping for a more authentic version.
In total, we paid €30, which was quite reasonable considering the amount of food we received. The service was fast and efficient, adding to the positive experience.
Overall, for the price, it was a good experience. However, the ramen is not remarkable compared to other ramen establishments...
Read moreI went here twice when in Burgos. The food is great although the menu is quite limited as to the type of food you can eat (only ramen and yakisoba dishes); although, there is an abundance of side dishes/starters to try. There is a window next to the front section of the kitchen where one of the chefs prepares the dishes; the first time we went, we sat by here and it was interesting to see.
They also have a selection of Japanese beers, as well as the typical ones and other types of alcohol.
Desserts are available, but again, with a limited menu. We ordered the green tea mochi which the waiter advised us not to (it's an acquired taste 😅😂 if you have never tried green tea before, you probably won't like it).
One of the downsides to the restaurant is that the tables are a bit uncomfortable, small, and rickety; I understand this is to do with the atmosphere of the restaurant however... Also there's a lack of green tea available on the menu; I'm not sure about Spain but in the UK it is almost custom in Japanese restaurants to offer free small cups of green tea...
Read moreWORST SERVICE EVER!!! We made a reservation for 6 people and didn't mention that we were coming with a baby and a stroller. When we arrived, the guy was showing us to the table grumbling "you are supposed to mention that you come with a baby and a stroller so I can organize the space because the stroller is disturbing!" - WITH A VERY BAD ATTITUDE. I forgot to ask his name, otherwise i'd gladly mention it here. We finally decided to leave because we were very disappointed with him and I as a mother was super hurt with his reaction. NOT...
