Banys Àrabs in Girona - we want to turn back time ! At the Plaça de les Jurats are the Arab baths of great historical value as they are the only building with this function in the Iberian Peninsula. Despite its name, it is in fact a 12th-13th-century Christian facility that mimics the structure of the Muslim public services, inheritors of the Roman baths. The Romanesque complex, very well preserved, conserves all the elements of a public bathing resort and invites relaxation and distraction. The entrance leads to the locker rooms, a spacious anteroom intended for entertaining. The great room of the cold baths was the frigidarium, built with vaults in tuff rock. You can enjoy a hot bath in the caldarium and lukewarm steam baths and massages in the tepidarium. In the center is an octagonal pool surrounded by Romanesque columns with Corinthian chapters. These pillars hold a cylinder with a lantern through which the sun's rays come in, illuminating the whole area. In an external courtyard was the concave and tiled boiler, from where a pipe led into the caldarium.
