Go back in time by visiting this incredibly interesting neighbourhood with stunning views of the Alhambra and the rest of the city. Here in these caves is where Flamenco was born (in Granada). Cave dwellings have been lived in for a few millennia here. Before the reconquest they housed the poorer moorish population and after they started housing the gypsy population that arrived with the Catholic monarchs. They cohabitated along with the Moorish population that didn't leave or wasn't expelled from the city after the reconquest - hence the Moorish influence on the gypsies and their music in this well-worth-a-visit neighbourhood. Read moreThe Verea de Enmedio through the upper part of the Sacromonte is one the most beautiful walks in Granada and a must. This Mirador is a wonderful place for a stop and a little rest before continuing the walk. Although google tries to tell you otherwise, you can walk all the way down to the Venta de Gallo and a lovely little Cave-Bar with a beautiful terrace called "Los Faroles" where you'll be served most graciously by an over 90 year old former flamenco dancer who spent his entire life at that exact spot in the Sacromonte! Read moreA much, much better view point than Mirador de San Nicolas and lesser trafficked! Because of that the tradeoff is that there isn't "much" around this Mirador in terms of food etc but still worth it for the views of Alhambra at sunset.
This is in the Sacromonte neighborhood so you can see some of the houses built into the stone of the mountain and you can see the white painted walls of the neighborhood.
I would certainly suggest coming here over San Nicolas - it is a bit of a hike...
